The stakes are so much lower for them. They’re already millionaires and can’t be fucked. They’re managing because they think they should based on their high opinions of themselves, not because they’ve shown any aptitude for it.

Agreed, and it’s not like his overall performance has dropped off massively, he just looks consistently unsure now in that part of his game. I do think he’s a target for an upgrade for a team playing in the CL though. Has to be counter-balanced with the need to upgrade elsewhere though and too much change too quick won’t go well.

In the same way that I wasn’t surprised when Dubravka was upgraded, I wouldn’t be surprised if Pope was upgraded this Summer, although to a lesser degree I suppose. It’s less of a priority but he has looked very nervous since Liverpool. Hopefully he shakes it off over the Summer and resets.
