Newcastle United 2-1 Valencia - 09/08/08 - Post Match Reaction from Page 22

are we sure its not AMDY faye, a few reports around of him going to stoke -
Lucky guess? I don't know like, everything he is saying could quite feasibly be true. It makes sense that the delay in announcing Colo is because of another signing. This Big Willie character got the Smith thing right, and claims to have a source at the training ground. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. ok lets assume this is true, what i dont understand is why they'd wait for smith to leave to announce two signings, why? I don't know, maybe we need the money from the Smith sale as we weren't planning on buying a striker this summer? All I know is, something doesn't add up. Coloccini has been a Newcastle player since Wednesday according to Deportivo, so why haven't we announced him. It's not totally absurd to suggest that we may be waiting on another deal too. god i bloody hope not, if 3m is that hard to come by i'm a bit worried I don't mean that, I mean, what if we weren't planning to buy a striker this summer, but now that Smith is going, we haven't budgeted for one. Hence we maybe need the money from the Smith deal. I DID NOT mean that we didn't have money to spend elsewhere. ahh right, that makes a bit more sense then yeah, my fault for mis-understanding

is anyone gonna be kind enough to type it up in full or am i gonna have to make the trip to town to buy it?

I'd love it to be true, but I can't believe some journalist wouldn't have picked up on the story by now if it was the case. Although scratch that. Most of the piss-heads just copy stories from the web anyway. If it was Gomis though and he signs expect every rag to make mention of the fact that he was in the crowd on Wed expect me to mention that during the euro's he looked like he'd never seen a football before

Fabricio Coloccini signed from Deportivo La Coruña on 5 year deal
Dr Venkman replied to Cronky's topic in Football
Signing another player on the way down with their best years behind them, just like the bad old days I don't think there is any doubt at all that if the old regime had signed a 26 year old central defender for 11m quid they would be labelling him as you say, along with the old "trophy player" bollocks Gerraway man. its been said enough mate. Nowt wrong with a quality signing [if he turns out to be a quality signing - in fact if he doesn't who will apply hindsight as in the case of Boumsong I wonder], but its who signs them that causes the problem would appear to be the case. i'd rather have keegan signing them than souness, wouldnt you? I think it's fairly common knowledge that its done. We're just waiting on confirmation. - Deportivo have said he is now a Newcastle player. - Ronaldos dad's company have been made his kit sponsor for the season. I think we just haven't announced it yet. (SPECULATION.... maybe to tie in with another signing or the sale of Smith?) haha, they should set up a stage outside SJP with a big screen for us all to go and watch alan smith's everton news conference, it'd get a canny crowd i reckon -

Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank, Cunt.

i think we're getting close to the point where those inside the club dont give a fuck what the press say, which i believe was always the intention of the media blackout, and fair play to them i say

the one player we needed above all else this summer, and still do.

in the telegraph now too, come on david, get that bid in... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/newcastle/2509210/Alan-Smith-to-swap-Newcastle-for-Everton---Premier-League-football.html

exactly, and gain some experience. its not like you're asking an 16/17/18 year old to play in defence, where one mistake costs you a goal. up front or out wide they've got a bit more room to play without massive pressure. Carrol/Zamblera/Donaldson instead of Smith, Ameobi? Aye. Lua-Lua instead of Duff? Aye.
-
i'd sell smith, ameobi and duff in a heartbeat, we can then go and get replacements/youngsters, or indeed play a youngster IF they're needed, as i wouldnt have either of them in the team anyway
-
i'll go along, will be interesting to see what they've got the players doing
-
is there any point in signing up for it? is it any good?
-
no he isnt, he's worse than nothing

smith's all round game was summed up perfectly by something he did early in the game last night. the ball was played into him along the floor, slowly, he had no team mates around him and clearly needed to hold the ball up with a defender on his back and wait for support, a pretty easy task really. the defender did nothing but get tight to his back, no challenge, no nipping infront to get the ball. he slid along the floor and kicked the ball away, away from himself, away from all his team mates. i was stunned, i dont know why, but it stopped me dead. all i could do was collapse in laughter. it was so, so bad. its shocking football, thoughtless, talentless, no instinct, nothing, just shit. i got my first coaching badge last week and it involved studying quite a lot of youngsters playing football, i can say with all confidence that an 8 year old could have done better. he needs to be removed from this club NOW. i never want to see him in a newcastle shirt again, he's the fucking anti-christ.

Hmm interesting comment. Wonder if he's been told how much our transfer kitty is and who the other targets are. nah, what he meant to say was 'big ambitions to sell the club to 6 different companies at the same time'
