    Oba...Obafem

Spot on...which is why it's f*cking ridiculous to boo the substitution. It's not like last season where he was our only decent striker, we have two equal/better strikers, and had a very good player coming on in his place. Next time if it's Owen or Viduka who comes off, do you boo the substitution to let them know you're behind them too? Its like before the game when the team sheet is read out, does my head in the moans you hear at certain players names, I loved it as a kid at the match when every name was met with a mass of cheers, but not now its all fkn doom and gloom.. totally agree, there's nowt like a bit of positivity to get a match started on the right foot, i also didnt much like all the moans and groans when smith appeared on the sideline for his cameo substitution, we were coasting at that point and i just thought it was a bit childish and un-necessary
  2. hmm, could be good under keegan, seems like a confidence player to me, 5m seems a fair price too, we'll see
  3. 80/1 has probably got more to do with the 0 than the 3, to be fair
  4. You forgot to sign off..... haha, oh shit, so he did, what happens now? life doesnt feel right, doug, get back and sign off!
  5. What about Shearer 97/98? Like Owen, had just came back from main injuries, like Owen, was playing in a sh*t Newcastle side, and scored 2 league goals in about 18-20 games. Don't remember Shearer getting the same criticism. Good point. Shearer scored about 30 the year after. And although I don't think he'll get that many (but he never has even at his peak), I'd predict Owen to get himself 20 in a Keegan team. I agree he will almost certainly get you 20 goals a season and to guarantee that nowadays you'd need to be spending wacky Drogba or Eto type money, so he may not be such bad value after all. The option would be to take a gamble, perhaps like our neighbours have in spending £12M on Jones and Chopra, and see how many goals that would buy you.............. He isn't almost certain to get you 20 goals at all and to suggest we'd have to spend on a Drogba or Eto'o type signing to replace him is living in a dreamland. A few good games against s**** teams and typical of people on here they go way over the top. First of all I'm neither typical of people on here, we all have our own minds, nor living in a dreamland. I don't know, nor for that matter particularly care if you actually watch Michael Owen, but in my opinion he is a cut above anything else at Newcastle, and that is based more on his special ability rather than anyone else's shortcomings. If you had watched him you'd have noticed how much of a team player he is, how well he uses the ball and his uncanny knack of getting in the right place before a defender against all teams. His goal ratio at Newcastle would indicate that injury free he IS ALMOST CERTAIN to get 20 goals in a season. And by the way, don't know how many matches you attend but trust me there are no "s**** teams" in today's Premiership. totally agree (with the exception of the almost certain bit, but thats nit-picking) and for what its worth i've been talking about owen's contribution to the team as a whole, dropping deep, keeping posession, for fucking ages

    what the f....

mint, i suggest we get a huge banner that says 'fuck off the lot of you' for our last fixture of our premier league winning season
  7. Mellberg has already joined Juve. What I'd give for a player like Rob Lee. we're desperately in need of a goal scoring midfielder imo
  8. You do understand that if Owen wasn't playing, he'd have a replacement? We wouldn't just have 10 men on the field instead. you do understand it'd be alan smith? i realise the fragility of my point, someone else would be playing, its actually 6 points and not 8, so i'll cut this short now and just say i think we should re-sign him, he's our best attacking player, end of
  9. we'd be 8 points worse off without his goals this season, that would put us 18th, and thats a fact

Where do you get "fickle" from? Even in the worst days of Souness I never heard a chant against the manager. When things arent going well the level of negativity and pessimism is unreal in SJP. Perfect example for me is blackburn the other week, i know it was late in the game and the great SJP exodus had already got under way but the ammount of people that had left the ground before the game kicked off again was ridiculous man. Should stick by your team to the last minute yep, was gutted so many people were leaving in the last few minutes of the fulham game, ridiculous
  11. 4-5-1 would be a beter way to to nick a resuly. Depends upon whether gaining a point would be viewed as a 'good' result. Did you see their game at the weekend? Portsmouth parked the bus and played for a point and got beat. We don't have good enough players to play 4-5-1 and park the bus and get something out of the game. they put 4 past chelsea, we haven't got a hope in hell of shutting up shop yes they put 4 past Chelsea, well done to them. But they also let 4 in. Just cause they scored 4 against Chelsea doesn't mean they are going to put 4 past everyone. Even Birmingham put 4 past them recently. ok so you obviously totally ignored the second part of that post, the bit after the comma. i'm pretty sure we're arguing the same point, i'm saying have a go at them, its the best chance we'll get a result apologies for the mis-understanding. no worries fella
  12. That was for s*** players. I also thought Taylor was impressive against Fulham, hardly put a foot wrong, he's not the shit player some on here like to make out, he's young and a little too over eager on occassions but I truely believe if we let him go we'll regret it because I think he'll mature into a top centre half. I think he's pap. His lap of honour and shirt donation after Saturdays game had me chewing my elbow. what about the way he picks up the ball before one of OUR set pieces, walks five yards from the spot where its supposed to be taken, then throws it up in the air so the player taking it has to go out of his way to get it? like to be centre of attention much steven?

  15. go and have a go at them i reckon, pointless changing what we've been doing for the last two games and as others have said its very likely they'll score even if we try and defend for 90 minutes, probably more likely actually. a loss wouldnt be the end of the world as long as our performance is still a good one going into the reading game
  16. you think we're good enough defensively to play for a point against spurs?
  17. give him a new contract, since he's been up to full fitness he's been head and shoulders above all our other attacking players, a few missed chances but he's still scoring and at the end of the day thats what counts edit - i accept he's not getting any younger but with the sharp end of his pace now gone anyway, what do we have to worry about apart from injuries? fair enough its a concern but he's had a good run of games recently and it seems like he might have finally turned a corner. also with his proven ability at playing the deeper role we know he's a LOT more adaptable than some would have you believe i just dont think a club in our position should be wanting to offload a player as good as him, doesnt make sense to me
  18. the only person on hallucinogens in this thread is the guy who WANTS Taylor to be in the starting line up next season, jesus wept

    Butterflies

well i WAS ok until i started reading this thread, all you nervous folk are affecting me, that said i think we'll win, but not very comfortably
  20. i dont mind the people who sit and watch, applaud when things go right, have a bit of a whinge when things go wrong. its the cunts who turn up with faces like shite, never praise anything, arms crossed just waiting for something to moan about, and then the inevitable half and full time boooing crew that need to fuck off
  21. he'll still have the skills, and if a bit of the pressure is taken off him by the new structure doing its job, and he's given good backing, i think he'll do very well for us, simple as that really
