  1. lets hope his little speech did the trick, whenever the talks are held
  2. Sorry but I would see 5th any time in the next 3 years a being very positive and that is the target Keegan has set himself for next season. so would i, i've already stated i'd be delighted with 7th next season, never mind 5th, i'd be pleased with top 8 and satisfied with top 10 ffs! i just think that there are other, less negative things he could've said to take the pressure off the players then 'it is impossible for newcastle united to qualify for the champions league in the next three years'. realistic or not. edit - i'd like to add to this that i think kk will know there are other things he could have said too, which is why imo its a money issue making him say it.
  3. I think he was trying to reduce expectations any by doing so take pressure off the players next season, I also think he felt that we were put to the sword by a very good team who we will need to challenge in future if we're ever going to win something. fair comment about trying to take pressure off the players, i think it could have been achieved without being SO negative though, but whats done is done.
  4. Maybe you don't believe it for a second but we've been struggling in the past and still signed players who have improved us, the fact that Keegan has been a realist will not change how we do in future. i really hope you're right. i trust kk, and i also give him more credit than others might when it comes to dealing with the media. imo he's taken a gamble to try and get super cash out of the board, we all know he hates second best.
  5. no we're not. we're asking him not to publicly make negative statements that just state the obvious, is that ok?
  6. erm, nothing? Quite, no need to make comments that the press can jump on so easily. struggling to see the point of it tbh, i love him as much as the next man but he's not above criticism. i can only think he's trying to get a point across to somebody, looks like a bit of gamble to me though because he has been rather negative about our chances in the league, realistic yes, but he could've certainly been more optimistic in what he said.
  7. Double KK on the M I C KKKK?
  8. So KK saying they haven't entered negotiations means what then? I only remember Keegan saying that he wanted Owen to stay. Did Keegan actually say Owen and Newcastle haven't started talking yet? Yes. Any evidence of that? *tin hat on* I know this will annoy some, but I could see a situation where things were so far apart in the initial discussions that it had to be put on the backburner till the end of the season? So although they could all say "we haven't started talking" there could still be a situation. Look, I just think it would be very difficult to determine what to pay Owen at the moment. We clearly didn't get value for money the first time around due to his injuries and in all honestly his first contract was a disaster for us. He was supposed to help fire us into Europe so the investment would be worthwhile, but it didn't happen. We really can't guarantee he will stay fit from now on, and in fact, judging from his history he will likely be injured again before long. If we gave him a new contract and he did get seriously injured yet again how would we all feel about it? Honestly? I really don't know what the club should do here. It is a very tough call in my opinion. i'm not gonna dispute any of that, i guess it comes down to the quality of player we can get to the club if we decide not to renew.
  9. in owen's programme notes yesterday he said they still hadn't approached his people
  10. what an extremely odd thing to say
  11. i'm sure someone's already mentioned this, but ameobi came on in the 90th minute and was caught offside within ONE second of the re-start, absolutely hilarious
  12. no, un-beaten until the end of the season please, we should be trying to win every game we play in, whats the point of filling the team with in-experience? it defeats the object as you're as good as saying you dont care about it therefore the pressure's off and they're not gaining any experience they wouldnt get in a friendly
  13. i'm definitely renewing and i want another one too, went in to ask about trying to get two together but the lass just said they didnt have any info until the renewal letters go out, sakes
  14. the michael owen song is terrible, i also hate it when ANY set of supporters sing the repetitve 'who are they', its just catastrophically lame
  15. Fiiiiine we'll take Drogba off their hands. Martins------Owen-------Drogba Despite his undoubted talent i would f****** hate it if we signed Drogba. He's a cheating, moaning, self obsessed fucktard! yes, of course you would. Why is it so hard to believe? I pay my money to be entertained, not to watch some arsehole throw himself to the ground like he's been shot every time someone brushes his shirt. The guy is an embarassment, a total disgrace to football! I couldn't give a toss how good he is, i genuinely would not want him to play for the team i support. Goals are boring like. Btw, what a load of s***. while i wouldnt go so far as to say i'd hate it if he signed, i'm not far away from agreeing with steve on this. i think drogba's an embarassment as a player and as a human being, i'd find it very very difficult indeed to support him but you'd be happy for us to sign El Hadj Diouf who throws his pregnant wife down the stairs for christsakes Drogba goes down a bit too easy, doesn't make him the devil i would have been happy with diouf when sam was in charge, aye, but with keegan and proper money to spend (hopefully) its a different matter imo.

  17. in other news, robert earnshaw has said he'll never come to nufc because he doesnt like the strip, and i'm bothered
  18. what? If you read my last post you'll find my reasoning for that. If you have read it already, there's no need to ask 'what?'. to be honest i thought it was either the question of someone who's never seen milner play, not seen barton or us this season, or a joke. i thought the latter
