I think it's fairly common knowledge that its done. We're just waiting on confirmation. - Deportivo have said he is now a Newcastle player. - Ronaldos dad's company have been made his kit sponsor for the season. I think we just haven't announced it yet. (SPECULATION.... maybe to tie in with another signing or the sale of Smith?) haha, they should set up a stage outside SJP with a big screen for us all to go and watch alan smith's everton news conference, it'd get a canny crowd i reckon -

Signing another player on the way down with their best years behind them, just like the bad old days I don't think there is any doubt at all that if the old regime had signed a 26 year old central defender for 11m quid they would be labelling him as you say, along with the old "trophy player" bollocks what on earth is the point in this post? -
fwiw, just got this from an everton fan

Jimmy Floyd Hasslebank, Cunt.

i think we're getting close to the point where those inside the club dont give a fuck what the press say, which i believe was always the intention of the media blackout, and fair play to them i say

in the telegraph now too, come on david, get that bid in... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/newcastle/2509210/Alan-Smith-to-swap-Newcastle-for-Everton---Premier-League-football.html

exactly, and gain some experience. its not like you're asking an 16/17/18 year old to play in defence, where one mistake costs you a goal. up front or out wide they've got a bit more room to play without massive pressure. Carrol/Zamblera/Donaldson instead of Smith, Ameobi? Aye. Lua-Lua instead of Duff? Aye.
-
i'd sell smith, ameobi and duff in a heartbeat, we can then go and get replacements/youngsters, or indeed play a youngster IF they're needed, as i wouldnt have either of them in the team anyway
-
i'll go along, will be interesting to see what they've got the players doing
-
is there any point in signing up for it? is it any good?
-
no he isnt, he's worse than nothing

smith's all round game was summed up perfectly by something he did early in the game last night. the ball was played into him along the floor, slowly, he had no team mates around him and clearly needed to hold the ball up with a defender on his back and wait for support, a pretty easy task really. the defender did nothing but get tight to his back, no challenge, no nipping infront to get the ball. he slid along the floor and kicked the ball away, away from himself, away from all his team mates. i was stunned, i dont know why, but it stopped me dead. all i could do was collapse in laughter. it was so, so bad. its shocking football, thoughtless, talentless, no instinct, nothing, just shit. i got my first coaching badge last week and it involved studying quite a lot of youngsters playing football, i can say with all confidence that an 8 year old could have done better. he needs to be removed from this club NOW. i never want to see him in a newcastle shirt again, he's the fucking anti-christ.

Hmm interesting comment. Wonder if he's been told how much our transfer kitty is and who the other targets are. nah, what he meant to say was 'big ambitions to sell the club to 6 different companies at the same time' -

The discussion would always have changed at the right time under the old board. and it would have been a more ambitious change too, to be honest i thought our days of running a forum at the level of blackburns were behind us, i'm pleased for those who think this is the level of internetty space we should be taking up. but alas, i can hear the sound of megabytes dropping. -

Certainly appeared to be a better captain on the pitch than Parker and Geremi and all the others that have stood in post-Shearer. They too were not that good captains. If i remember correctly Geremi was given the captaincy just because he knew a certain number of different languages making him communicate effectively with other players. We desperately need to look for players that are good captain material. The only ones i would recommend from our current squad is either Harper/Given or Habib Beye for now - but we definitely need a captain similar to Gareth Barry. But ofcourse it is also wrong to give someone the captaincy the year he is brought into a new team. A person needs to be at a team for a few years to get to know the team and its style of play. so without being captain, owen has no 'place' in the squad, and given is good captain material, considering he's an un-commanding goal keeper who never communicates with his defense and never takes the initiative to come and claim crosses. are you sure?
