Newcastle V Stoke - Pre Match Thread (Keegan Homecoming)

We're gonna win 7-4. In front of less than 30k. blueyes.gif -
Reaction from sunny Manchester to KK's return. In its entirety. I just post it here to save our servers bandwidth. Mega long post! yes it's nice to see him back but like you say i don't think it will be for to long That long, you have alot of faith! Anyone know if Shearer is to be appointed as assistant or put on the coaching staff? It's not just a manager problem they have but a player and fan problem, poor squad, deluded fans, I am sad that KK has taken this poison chalice on (Spot the closet Newcastle fan?) What's he gonna do with all of Fat Sams signings? Do you reckon the board will give him the same money as Sam to turn the club around? But i suppose that means B*rton will be in the team for good cos it was Keegan who first played him wasn't it at Spuds? (No, that was his first goal tho...) (Spot the closet Newcastle fan #2) (This may or may not be identical to what I posted here, if it is, I'm sure its just a coincidence...) (Really don't think he's a fan...) (Ouch!) Well, I hear van Buyten is available. Hopefully a move for Danny Mills is the on the cards. There aren't many players still left since Keegan was here, only Dunne, Mills, Sun and Onuoha. Alan Smith was forward back when Keegan was in his pomp. Why set your sights on the merely impossible when there are miracles out there just waiting to be done. Alan Smith was forward back when Keegan was in his pomp. Why set your sights on the merely impossible when there are miracles out there just waiting to be done. We all know Smith is shite, which leads me to believe this was an attempt at sarcasm. As to then I ask why? The four players I listed are way above the quality of someone like Smith Couldn't have put it better myself. A good honest football bloke and the Prem will be better for him again. Can't see it lasting too long mind, but lets face it, Newcastle and Keegan are like any double act; strawberrys and cream, morecambe and wise, hinge and bracket; they just can't survive without each other!!! But this is classic Keegan all the way. He's physically not able to say no if someone comes to him and persists, especially Newcastle. It actually wasn't his decision. (Sarcasm detector?) I agree! - Didn't just watch them all on YouTube as well. Terrible! :-) (...Thats a Really useful invention.) Was just thinking that myself, SWP never played better than he did under Keegan and it would be a bit of a marquee signing for him. Doubt he will come cheap though with it being January and him having just found a bit of form for Chelsea, but this is Keegan we are talking about so I wouldn't be surprised to see him spaff 100m by the end of Jan including a 30m combined bid for Macken & Sibi.

Theres also the possibility of him approaching someone else he left at City, Derek Fazackerley. Help McDermott put the cones out or some such. idk what he does tbh altho he's in the dugout.

Thread on mancityfans.net concerning this topic contains zero lols and near universal happiness/support that KK is back in the game (altho some sceptism over whether or not this will be a success). Really? How did you rate your time with KK? Great start (including best season ever in first division) but ultimately too much down the drain (Fees for the likes of Fowler, Macken, Sommeil, etc, as well as contracts for McManaman, Mills) while chasing the dream that led to financial difficulties and a putrid couple of years...nearly got relegated first season at CoMS and a year later with no money and SWP and Anelka gone things got shit pretty quickly. Could have gone better. Still, can't help but like the bloke. I think his biggest legacy (apart from the debt...) was the defence he left behind - Dunne and Distin saved our arses majorly in the Pearce era. (The youth policy was a product of Joe Royle's time at the club)

Dunne is not a good shout. Not. For. Sale. SWP however...is. He's still one of my favourite players ever (ever! ) and he had a great relationship with Keggy i believe.
-
Has Mills not signed for Derby? He's only on loan. He'll be coming back home to his rediculous contract in the summer no doubt.
-
Wondering if he'll come try and come back for any of his old City players. Staggeringly apart from kids there are only 3 still here from when he left. Dunne, Sun, and Mills. First one owes his career to KK but is not for sale. Other two are shite but if you want a stop gap... Fourthly, Daniel van Buyten, played for KK's City for six games or so on loan in 2004, is available..... :parky:

Staggered. Man who left City was a man who had fallen out of love with the game. I don't know what has happened to light that fire again. I can only imagine he has been promised megabucks.
-
Elaborate please? I can keep a secret.
-
Class act. Has he got over his injury problems...?
-
Ya I do... You're right btw. I think its just because theyre all as big and as fast as each other compared to how theyre usually streets ahead physically of the europeans they play against week in week out. And the technical levels arent great in the main. Plus the BBC tend to put a bunch of absolute muppets on the coverage which increases shiteness factor tenfold. Peacock, Crooks, etc. I bet that woman does it this year.

In fairness, laughing at Sunderland's signings has been a pretty safe indulgence of late, but he does stand out as looking worth the money. Slow market this window, Speccy ... Even Sven taking his time. Any rumours? Too many rumours. One forum has been closed cos the guy who runs it got sick of all the kids posting made up s**** and subsequent bickering. SMB ? http://www.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=1

TBF. Theres a little poll running here about Sexy football vs trophies. Seems some people dont care about sexy football. And others dont care about winning. So he would be a happy medium.

Sven.

I laughed when Sunderland paid £6m for Jones. But now, I wish he played for City. Just what we're missing. Proper fucking bulldozer to create some space for Elano et al. I wonder how much they would want for him now. Else I hope they go down so we can nick him. :parky:

Souness the martyr. Richard Keys asking him if he would take it again. mackems.gif Luque/Owen 2nd choice to Boa Morte/Anelka, told Luque would cost £2m...

I can't believe I just read that.

Castillo not all that then? Did fuck all today.

FT 1-0. They did a great job defending their box. But we're shit up front.

Sibierski > Robert. Darius Vassell today. minutes played: 68 Shots: 0 On Target: 0 Off Target: 0 Goals: 0 Completed Passes: 1. There are no words to describe my perplexion at his continued inclusion. We've been on top for a lot of 2nd half but Howard isn't cleaning his shorts tonight.

Yes. Would have been a red last week.

The inverse red card backlash has begun. Refs now scared to show the card. How Carsley is still on the pitch shall ever be a mystery.
