Not throwing shade at SP here, but the cynicism is normal. "ITKs" on here have historically had the odd good source on one issue (for example squad news), then either they or their original source pretended to know more about transfers and the like than they actually did, for whatever reason. Again no shade at SP as his source could be completely legit for all I know, but it's best to take everything with a pinch of salt and question where the info would come from in the first place.

From the outside looking in, it seems like Palace have a set price and we're trying to do a chunk of it in installments that they either don't want or don't think are attainable, and probably still aren't matching their value. I'd imagine the revised bids were tweaking those installments. We've obviously thought they would give in or Guehi's camp would apply pressure, but to me, Parish made it clear that their terms would have to be met. I don't think it was brinkmanship, I think he was being straight, as he would now look daft if anything less than a substantially higher fee than the one being reported was agreed.
-
Will be disappointed if we go back in, far too much time wasted on this already. It was clear from Parish's interview that Palace aren't willing sellers.

It's less than 3 years since Steve Bruce had us at the foot of the league, free falling towards relegation, with the club having no plans, no hope, and no ambition. Your post isn't harsh, it's clueless.

Gallagher is effective in front of goal and getting into those positions for sure, but for me he doesn't dominate the game as much as Joelinton can at his best, and definitely doesn't carry the ball as well. At least from the eye test, I'm sure there'll be stats that contradict this. Having a midfielder who can drive you 20 yards up the pitch with the ball, quickly, is key to stopping you getting hemmed in, the two Joes are the only ones in our team capable of it and we missed it last season at times.
-
Better "footballer" than Joelinton maybe, but I'm not sure he's as effective

Tbf I can see why City fans might have reservations, I seem to remember him having a few iffy performances against them
-
True that, although it would be nice to have new bodies in if just for the lift. We've seen in the past how quiet transfer windows can lead to staleness on the pitch, ideally you want to hit the ground running given how tight those top 8 spots are going to be this season.
-
I think this is dead tbh. Go all in on a RW, fuck defence.
-
Tbf Palace just put their best run of form together in years from January, and Guehi played about 95 minutes of it (in midfield, mostly)... Can see why their fans may think they can get by without him.
-
For him to come out in the press like this, you'd imagine the third bid fell into what he personally felt was "taking the piss" territory. Reading between the lines, it seems like they've set a very specific price and we've thought pressure from the player's camp would allow us to haggle them down. It seems like that this isn't the case and they literally just want the specific price. Club have to act fast and either pay up or walk away.

No, if and when this one is correct, you need to return with incredibly vague hints every now and then for at least a year. Additional phrases like "keep the faith" heavily encouraged.

ITK lad at work just said fee has been agreed. I think he may actually be right as he's never been right before, so it feels like he's due one.

Their twitter has broken quite a few stories. Not exactly Ornstein, but not ftblJoe either.
-
Why did no one on the forum mention that he was weak in the air before now? Would have saved a lot of excitement
-
Be very surprised if they sell both this window. Wouldn't be shocked if they have leaked this to put pressure on us to up our offer for Guehi.
-
He's more clinical, but his all round game is a long way off Gordon's
-
Only if he turns out to be shit

Harrison looks nervous, a little bit sloppy in dangerous areas. Hopefully we can get him out on loan somewhere this season.
-
Aye, Osula looks like he could be a shrewd signing. If nothing else he seems to be a handful with good pace and movement. He looks the kind of striker that pushes defenders back a few yards.
-
I think if that was the case, Jamie would have broken into the first team earlier since he's a few years older and physically miles ahead of Lewis. My understanding from a local coach who worked with them both is that Jamie was a very good footballer growing up, but Lewis was pretty much untouchable; he was basically Zidane relative to the other kids he had worked with. Hopefully Jamie has used Lewis breaking into the team to kick himself on.
-
Shame they cut him rinsing the defender over and over again to fit the clip on twitter, hopefully the full 5 minute replay comes out later
-
Aye. I was visualising a repeat of his Everton assist, assume Murphy mustn't have been there for the tap in this time
