It was a frustrating game again for the most part, but a few spells aside, I think people are overrating Fulham's performance like. I don't think Pope made a save? They were tidy enough but it was a similar performance to Leeds from them, just defensively a bit more leaky. We made the game closer than it should have been by being a bit wasteful in the final third.

Absolutely mint being able to just sit back and enjoy other clubs' misery for a change, without any worry about our own club lingering around to spoil it.
-
He's stepped it up even more lately, he's looking a complete player. Wouldn't look out of place in most top teams at the moment.
-
If he added end product he'd be overpowered tbh. Would be worth about £300m.

You don't get up to third in the league by new year by carrying a midfielder who isn't Premier League quality.
-
Because Leeds barely got forward, especially after half time, there was less need to cover - this admittedly exposes Burn's attacking weaknesses. I don't need to check Sofascore though, I've watched us play every game this season and have seen the system with my own eyes. The effectiveness of having Burn at left back is obvious as we are sat third with the best defensive record in the league.
-
My biggest criticism of us today btw, isn't the result or the wasteful finishing - those things happen - but the loss of discipline towards the end, which was pretty disappointing and naive. We played right into their hands and should've known better given that we've used similar tactics to waste time this season.

Burn plays so we can drop into three CBs and shuffle across when Trippier bombs forward, his selection is entirely focused on freeing Trippier up. It has worked in almost every game this season.

Man City are drawing with Everton as things stand. These results happen when teams lower in the league come to grind out a result. It's not the end of the world.

He is underrated and has been integral to recent form. Not always amazing on the ball, but his work ethic is outstanding and his tactical understanding and positioning goes almost entirely unnoticed. He reminds me a bit of a young Jordan Henderson, one of those players that improves a team even if you can't always see what he's bringing.

One win away from having a points tally that would've survived relegation in every season since 15/16, and it's not even the turn of the year yet. How did we get here?

The entirety of Brazilian twitter, too

Wasn't at his best in possession today, but his tenacity and defensive work were first class. It's very rare that you see teams tearing through the middle against us like they used to when Shelvey was in that position under Bruce. His off the ball work is very underrated IMO.
-
Great to see him playing so well at the moment. He's always had something, but was generally incredibly frustrating in the past. Seems to be forcing himself into games more now rather than letting it happen around him; something which seems to have been the biggest change in almost every player since Howe took over.
-
Yup, he's got to be one of the most difficult players to play against in the league when he's at his best, just through sheer energy levels and power alone.
-
We only won 1-0 instead of 4-0

Always rated Trippier before he joined us but I genuinely can't get over just how good he has been for us. No idea how you replace him when age catches up, can't think of another full back who runs the game the way he does, both on the ball and off it. We'll look back on him as one of the most transformative signings in the club's entire history.

Love that we have that shithouse edge to us now, we spent years under Bruce being soft as shite.
-
Not too sure about this one. They're overdue a result, we're overdue a defeat, got a bad feeling about it.
-
Another diabolical use of VAR.
-
Strong case for being the best defender in the league. Just does absolutely everything well.
-
Week in, week out, we're making teams look absolute shite for prolonged periods of matches. Nobody knows how to play against us, especially at home.
-
His performances recently have been very good imo, a lot of his best work goes unnoticed. Needs to stop getting caught on the ball though.

Everton are absolute dross, fucking hell. One shot
