But often drifting wide to the left on the counter attack and providing the assist square. Many more could have been converted with better finishing, which is why he got player of the tournament despite only two goals and one assist. Bodes well for him as a wide forward with Isak / Wilson in the middle.

He was extremely impressive today. Should have had four assists. I'm excited.

He was asked about it on the Totalsport podcast yesterday, which was broadcast from his pub. It seemed like a nothing throw-away mention. More interestingly, apparently his favourite drink is a Monaco. He was also totally unable to answer the question about the last five French players signed by Newcastle (he only got ASM and Lejeune).

Christmas 2001, we had just won in London for the first time in ages to go top of the league. I remember then thinking we had the best wingers in the league. Genuinely arguing with my man u supporting friend that I would take Robert and Solano over Giggs and Beckham. Pretty much the last time I felt as excited about the future of Newcastle as I do now.

Think Tonali will develop a shimmy that puts defenders on the deck? I had also forgotten his total mastery of the chip shot until now - maybe that's what Murphy was trying to emulate.

By far the best player I have ever seen in person (Beardsley). As you say, he had everything, even to the end of his career.

I have number 32 on every shirt I own for every sport. There is one incredibly handsome left foot tractor engine to account for this.

Much less useful in the age of click bait headlines

Seemed to lack intensity, but the whole team does and it's a friendly. Burst into the box a few times but Vini Jr and Rodriygo don't look the passing types.

Down holding his foot. Looks like Bruno is coming on. Probably geordie for geordie.

Quoted for truth. I've never seen big joe stroll around like this for us. Such a low tempo style.

Being interviewed live at half time. Looks buzzing. No idea what he's saying.

No belly there

Surely it all comes down to what someone else will pay? 26 with 1 year left or not, if Spurs will pay £50m to take him from us, why would Leicester settle for £40m, unless the player refuses?

The state of that pitch at 38 seconds ?

There may be an issue of league strength points for a work permit, in which case Belgium/Portugal/Scotland will be better.

32 will always be the classic mercurial French left winger in my book. Anderson knows.

This is one of the best things I've ever seen.

And sold to Man Utd for £1.25million in 1980 at a time when the world transfer record was £1.75million (Paolo Rossi to Juventus). So it's safe to say he was pretty decent.

The chat around this being highly inflated and a test of fair market value is winding me up. None of the 'big six' get less than £40m a year for their shirt sponsorship, regardless of champions league participation. https://www.statista.com/statistics/254513/value-of-jersey-kit-sponsorships-in-the-barclays-premier-league-by-club/

@wormy has 33,358 posts now. I remember his first. But that day was not as good as the day we all saw @oldtypeon the television.
