Sebastien Bassong signs for Tottenham Hotspur, fee undisclosed
Raconteur replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
You shouldnt get too greedy. This is what you said a few months ago: http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,62276.30.html He shoots, he scores! -
Some Nigerian tinted glasses right there The debate about Martins' worth started when he was signed and will continue (probably) for as long as he plays football...

What. The. Fuck?!? I don't care who's talking shite (in fact they all have in their time), but the question remains: What. The. FUCK?!?
-
Don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out Nicky...
-
Except this is one rumour/story/crap/ITK that was not from the media at all - in fact the media haven't published this one...
-
*tin hat on* If Ashley had of appointed Wise instead of Kinnear then we wouldn't be having this conversation...
-
This... I hope!

I'm not a fan of Jose, but that shows genuine class RIP Sir Bobby, thanks for the memories.

I hear you! I can't believe Keegan's candidacy has been given any credibility. Oh, wait, it was The Sun
-
From the "Reading Too Much Into Things" file: So the BBC don't expect him to get the Newcastle job...?

Why do I support Newcastle? Because I'm a fucking masochist Actually, it's a tenuous link - I jumped on board the Toon when they were streaking the (then) First Division thanks to Keegan. At the time I only knew Keegan as a Liverpool legend and as my only other football exposure was thanks to Craig Johnston's exploits with them, that thin reed was enough. But my "choice" was vindicated again and again - most Toon fans are negative bastards (like myself), continually disappointed (like myself) and fucking masochists (yep, tick another box). And frankly, any true blue Goerdie who thinks that isn't a good enough reason - fifteen odd years of loving the Toon through thick and thin (and let's admit it - more thin that thick!) might not make me a sooperfan, but a real fan nonetheless...

Wasn't it Lambiarse who announced they've pulled out though? So surely must have been in the running? they couldnt provide proof of funds or something This is the bit I don't get - wasn't it necessary to provide proof of funds before being allowed access to the data room and thus beginning the due diligence process?

I'm pretty sure you can sell players outside of the window - if memory serves correctly, that was how we acquired Darren Ambrose, when Ipswich were in the shitter. If memory serves correctly...

I've been wondering this for a few weeks actually - how long will it take until someone snaps? We laugh about it, but this sort of scenario surely has to shortening at the bookies...? My first thought was "Did Peter Ridsdale ever face physical threats after Leeds went bust?" But then I realised the situation is different - he drove Leeds to the wall chasing the dream, whereas Ashley is doing it... for no discernible reason...

I'd change your avatar before making posts like that

http://www.oldfootballshirts.com/img/season_shirts/football_shirt_2081_1.jpg This monstrosity was the Australian national team's shirt during the 80's - appalling!

I remember reading some exaggerated hype that declared Inman the most exciting Australian teenaged prospect since Harry Kewell broke into the Leeds team aged 17. Not too much pressure for the lad! Here's hoping he gets some game time this season - the story goes Pim Verbeek is keeping an eye on him. If he doesn't opt for Scotland, of course...
-
Probably Guthrie - after having Lee Clark and Mark Viduka as my avatar I seem to have hex powers

Sums it up for me - it's like voluntary bi-polar

That has to be the funniest post in this whole fucking depressing thread!

I guess the biggest worry for me regarding a tranfer embargo is not the financial ramafiations of not selling players, but the question of who will be playing up front if no players are signed? What about injuries? Martins, Ameobi, Ranger, Lua Lua - are these guys going to take us up?
-
It certainly it shocked me - he's only a few months older than me, and I've always liked the big fella. Good luck John, praying for a miracle...

This. More shite from the Profitible Group in my opinion - who could conceivably be withdrawn from the bidding process for breaching the non-disclosure agreement...
