That’s the nature of the job being Newcastle a professional football manager. Fixed it, you daft cunt.

Gotta say I thought the Santos one was a worse tackle - watched the vid Wullie posted, and yeah, Thatcher kicks the shit out of his knees as he wildly swings his left leg at him. It is indeed an assault. But Santos, with malicious forethought, set out to butcher Johnson. He got off the ground, both feet studs up and connected full whack with Johnson’s trailing foot (and bonus style points have to go for Johnson’s fall). As a footballing tackle, I feel it’s worse...? ? It was the running elbow from Thatcher that was the problem. Thought it was more putting his shoulder into the kick and hitting with with the forearm. Not saying it wasn’t a horrific challenge, just saying why I thought Santos’ was worse. Didn’t think the arm was worth the mention.

If that’s mackem logic, then our strong win and similarly late equaliser in three games would have us vying for the title

Just saw that on FB. Weird one, and I feel the need to repeat the notion from the Vilca thread that a kid trying to develop his craft under Bruce is on a hiding to nothing.

The end. Of the debate, and most likely, the poor kid’s development under Bruce.

An impressive entry, but this millennium’s worst tackle seems to be in the bag:

What are you talking about? Eat a pint glass or you don't play.

Both very odd rumours that suggest the Italian press thinks we’re still getting taken over.

Can you imagine him as a coach? I can’t. No, but he would have some value as a Terry Mac/John Carver in a putting-out-the-cones and organising-social-functions manner. He’s clearly a senior figure in the dressing room and well liked among the players. And seriously, would he really be any worse than Steve’s sidekicks Steve and Steve?

Those quotes are hilarious when they should be despairing. "Which one am I watching?"

I don't see how Shelvey fits into a midfield two with the options he have beside him. Even though we've seen two matches, I feel Hayden-Hendrick would give us more at both ends of the pitch - and don't feel Shelvey's form is good enough to ditch Hayden if Brewcie wanted to try Shelvey-Hendrick. I wouldn't put Shelvey and either Longstaff (at the moment) together against Morecombe as a midfield two... If he's in a midfield three, then it pretty much has to be in the role KaKa described, but that a) forces us to play a certain way and b) assumes Shelvey deserves to have the formation moulded around him. When he plays as one of two CMs with an AMC in front of them, he always drops too deep and doesn't feel the need to get up and back. Which is why a good manager didn't find a place for him when he settled on his first XI.

Has someone bothered to make a Wikipedia page for our new Peruvian megastar? He didn’t have one last week... EDIT: and if he doesn’t, can I just say - HTT[/member] , your time is now

20 points. I think if you got a good manager in instead of Bruce and Zaha moved on from Palace that's what the swing would be. Don’t think that’s an especially bold prediction, really. Don’t see what neesy’s laughing at...?

Love watching Pickford fail to reach a shot flying past him

Nothing subtle about that

Thought he was a chance of breaking out this season. I like what I’ve seen of him.

Remember a time when we would all be saying “We really should be beating Brighton”. Fact is, we really should beat them on Sunday. Probably won’t, though...
