  1. Takes a lot of time to save up that much dole money. Canny stupid and ignorant remark that is, considering current economic circumstances and the likelihood of 2million unemployed in the UK by the end of the year. Sorry Well, you'd never see me making asinine, childish or idiotically flippant remarks like that on here. You would do well to remember that in future.

  3. # Lip up Fatih! Ah lip up Fatih! Fatih Terim! # ...it could work. Maybe?
  4. Agreed. This debacle has serious implications for the longer term, not only for player retention, but also for player recruitment too. It's still salvageable at this stage, though...provided we can recruit a credible replacement for Keegan as manager. But can we?
  5. Running the club from London left Keegan isolated within the club he was supposed to be responsible for managing. The "cockney cartel" have adopted an arrogant & high handed approach, obviously, otherwise her current Ashley/Wise created mess would never have happened. People running a football club have be aware of the character and identity of that club which in the case of Newcastle is very much and strongly associated with the city and region in which it is based. Something the current owner and boardroom management have paid lip service to but have obviously failed to really appreciate. I am a current season ticket holder but as long as Ashley and Wise continue to hold the positions at the club they do I will not set foot inside St James Park, and will not by merchandise at the club shops. I could say I would stop shopping at Sports Direct but as that place was pure tat I never went there in the first place. Then it's really strange that many on here think the answer is to have the club owned by Indians, Arabs or whoever. There are only a couple of Geordies (Graham Wylie springs to mind) who have the type of mega wealth needed to make an impact on football nowadays, so maybe an Englishman is as close as we'll get to someone understanding us. Nobody will ever understand us. Fat Fred was the closest we'll ever get - only problem was that whilst he understood us, he was a greedy fat self-serving bastard who screwed the club up.
  6. After calming down from yesterday, I came to pretty much the same conclusion as you. They'd be my three picks. On an unrelated note, does it annoy anyone else when David Craig starts forgetting to pronounce his t's? Aye. "Re-re-wind, the crowd say Bo Seleca" just isn't the same.
  7. Yeah, but they'ze Cockerneez like, INNIT? Wotcha finking mayte? Izzit cos day is layk all froms Lahndaan?
  8. I'd want Martin O'Neill if I thought for one nanosecond he'd be willing to come to us. Right about now though I'd take Phil Brown from Hull.
  9. Geordies. Know Your Place. A bit like that classic Harry Enfield sketch: Women Know Your Place.
  10. Stating the obvious, somewhat, but aye. There's still NO FUCKING WAY that he'd not want to be told about or involved in decisions regarding the employment or dismissal of key personnel in the management team of NUFC. Away and boil yer heid now.
  11. The capacity for self-delusion that exists within our fan base never ceases to amaze me. That said, it's probably what also makes the Toon Army so special. Do you report directly to the owner of the company at your job or do you report to a line manager? There is a chain of command at every comapny and it's no different at Newcastle United. What do you think he was told by Ashley 'if you have any problems report them directly to me because i've got loads of time on my hands. Forget about Lambias, he's only there to do the paperwork'. The manager of a football club reports into the Chairman in most cases, not the owner. Why is the possible scenario i've suggested so delusion then? We live in an age of mass communication (24 hours TV news, RSS web feeds, mobile internet, blackberries, mobile email etc). I just find it a tad incredible to even contemplate Ashley would have had no idea what was going on back at the club, let alone that something as politically and commercially sensitive as sacking Keegan/or accepting his resignation would take place without Ashley knowing about it. Just wouldn't happen. Ashley may want to dissociate himself from what has happened, for reasons of personal safety/commercial interest etc, but I just don't buy it. If he does then he is a total disaster of an owner and completly the wrong man to take NUFC forward! Despite what people think they know about him, we actually know very little at all. He remains an enigma.

  15. It's stunning to see how many people are willing to live up to the "Thick Geordies" stereotypes. Well, not stunning actually, it's fucking depressing.
  16. Kushti. [/delboy] So you think it'll be Venables too.
  17. Deschamps would make sense. To be honest, there's an argument that he would have made more sense than bringing Keegan back in January. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7599539.stm

    Dear Kevin Keegan

For you it should be a bowl of: http://planetquo.net/Various/ritalin_o.jpg
  19. I'm really starting to warm to the idea of Terry Venables as manager...and maybe instead of the Local Hero theme we could have the team coming onto the tune of "Only Fools & Horses". *Stick a pony in yer pocket I'll fetch my suitcase from the bank..."
  20. ...it has too many fans who believe it is cursed. Negativity breeds failure.
  21. http://img.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2006/10/venables111006_596x700.jpg Think about it... Likes Dennis Wise Is a Cockney Caaaaant himself Has managed in Spain Heavy duty Spurs, Leeds & Chelsea connections (like Wise & Ashley) Looking for work Could be the only option left to Ashley. (*EDIT: NOT saying I want him either, just think it's pretty plausible Ashley could be thinking this way)
