  1. Seen on twitter he was only on the bench anyways yesterday but even so, would still have fancied him to come and possibly grab one. At least not a serious injury. BBC had him in the starting 11. Think they said something about a late change to the starting 11 or something when he pulled out.

How do you know that, bimpy? Got to say as someone who goes to every home game that's not really true, SJP is probably no better or worse than any other top sports venue. I don't notice the SD stuff being any more visible than any other club's major sponsor, maybe someone with an axe to grind would see it differently. For sure a top Premiership stadium is an excellent fit with Ashley's core business interest so he's going to milk it. Be daft of him not to. He can advertise what he likes as long as he's prepared to pay the going rate for it. Has anyone ever tried to put a figure on how much that level of exposure would cost at the going rate? What is it actually worth to the club?

Spot on. Ultimately, the club will get out what it puts in. It's seriously no wonder that people are disheartened. All we ever get told is that we can't compete, sovereign state, overdraft, over the line, trying, trying, tried, failed, JFK etc etc etc.

Aye it's a joke. Our fans seem to be getting worse and worse. . Just .

We had Gouffran, Remy, Cisse & Ben Arfa on the pitch together. Negative Bastard. All that attacking talent and yet we've averaged 1 goal per game all season. Go figure. Cisse and Ben Arfa were fucking shite on Saturday. All season? No good having such attacking talent on the pitch if you score FIVE goals in FIVE games. When was the time we beasted a team? When was the last time we dominated most of a match?

Absolutely, it comes back to the footballing ethos, that's instilled in a group of players over time. Again (and I keep repeating myself) too much is made of analysing games in isolation, look at the way his team has played over the years he's been here. Lack of movement, rigidity, surrender initiative when in front. They're all old problems. Yep, all stemming from a culture of fear. That's why we never stuff sides. We're full of inhibition.

Easy for teams to have bad starts and recover from them. It is when you make it easy for them.

Bang on. A SBR or KK side would have absolutely smashed them. That's got less to do with the individuals in the side and more to do with the mentality of the man in charge.

    Sunderland

In some respects Short will feel they were doomed without him last year. The 'new manager' bounce kept them up. His error of judgement was in backing him to the tune of almost £20m which means there's yet more turd for the next guy to try to polish. Sunderland actually need a relegation in the same way many would argue we did. A good clear out and a fresh start with a sensible manager is what they need. They're still trying to sort out Bruce's mess, MON's mess and now PDC's - all of whom will be on big money and nobody would want them.

A Manager with an attack minded philosophy would've mullered Hull on Saturday. One smell of blood and we'd have smashed them. There's a fear factor with Pardew which just isn't going to go. We rarely comprehensively beat teams.

    Hatem Ben Arfa

I wonder if that's where the Thauvin link came from. Spend the HBA money on him?

That's right Alan, you just crack on and we'll standby and watch quietly from the sidelines as you continually fuck up. I'd hate to overreact or anything.

Fucking a-hole. Should read 'striking option' not sure where the plural comes from. Such a fucking tool.
  16. Speaking of Goodison, that was also home to one of Sir Lesley's best goals after he battered through their centre backs to score.
  17. yep had a season ticket in the milburn paddock- he was literally head shoulders and torso above our defenders that day- so much so the stopped challenging him, and picked up the second ball. . That was right - My memory is shit but did he get a hatrick that day? I'm sure he scored a really early goal but I may be wrong. I thought we lost 2-1? Honestly can't remember, but thought Ferdinand got off to a flyer and ended up with a hatrick. Perhaps not, like I say my memory is really bad. I do remember that Milburn Paddock though. Brilliant craic. Do you remember those opposition wingers waiting for the ball back and getting endless abuse? I was a kid at the time and always sat perched on a concrete upstand thing. The banter between the players and fans back then was completely different to anything of today.

  19. I remember watching Sir Les from the old Milburn stand back in the days when he played for QPR. In the season before he signed for us, he absolutely battered our centre backs into submission. Three performances, from back in the day, stand out for me from opposition players at St James'.....................Ferdinand for QPR who was unplayable and actually had a surprising turn of pace back then, Tony Adams marshalling an Arsenal back four like a roman general. Unreal. Finally Sol Campbell for Spurs before he made the move across North London was a total brick wall of a centre back.
  20. Both Juve and BD are fantastic value there. Obscene value. Should be about 12s. Who are betting with? On Betfair they are 18's (Juve) and 16's (Dortmund)? Edit - BET365 are doing a winning nationality bet and you can get 5/2 for the winner to be German. That's decent with Pep's arrival at Bayern Munich too.
  21. Treble for this weekend: Chelsea Vs Fulham NUFC vs Hull Millwall Vs Blackpool 5/1 Blackpool is a top V bottom affair and they are 7/5 to win.
