  1. UV - sorry but Duff is not one of our best players. He's slow as fuck, can't cross, barely scores and can't beat a man anymore. I doubt we'd have gone down if him and Butt had of been replaced last season but one thing is for sure, you're fucking nuts if you think we could justifiably keep him on £70k per week when he brought so little to the squad. I'm delighted, I'd rather have a thinner squad and the money in the bank because he delivers so little. Happy to replace him with Lua Lua or even change the system to 4-3-3 and play a young lad with some pace up front alongside the two big lads in order to justify selling him for that sort of cash. Edit - Sorry Keefaz - didn't see your post before posting the above. You've said it all, probably better.
  2. Agree, though I'd have thought £9m plus when you see Boro knocking back Villa's interest in Wheater for around £6m. Taylor is a far better prospect imho.
  3. Liverpool have wanted him for years. They bid for him a few years ago, when his contract was being negotiated and his old man was making a twat of himself thanks to Anal. It was sorted in the end and he stayed but they've had a longstanding interest in him so I wouldn't be surprised.
  4. This is the best deal yet in terms of value. Better than Milner etc. I thought we'd have to free transfer him to get the fucker off the books.
  5. I think Aidy Boothroyd's got a lot of potential but think this job is too big for him at the minute. One thing Jones would have is experience, and he's better than JFK, but Jesus - is this what we've come to?
  6. My mate Glenn (he's on the dole at the minute) has told me that we've been watching a lad in Holland by the name of Dick or summit.

    RIP sale thread.

Havent you seen Barclays recent profits? I have but they're not likely to be keen to attract negative PR from taking chances tis all I'm saying. Is it positive PR to refuse to assist such a high-profile organisation though? I would've thought they'd be applauded for being risk averse given the current climate. Let's face it, they're not likely to get any stick for not 'taking a chance' on us if that's what they're required to do in this Moat deal. I wouldn't have thought they'd be obliged to assist us any more than they would another medium size outfit? May be wrong though? I'd imagine the opposite tbh, do things like this not need to happen to stimulate the economy again? Hmm maybe you're right but I don't think they'll be taking any chances, a high profile 'Leeds style' fuck up is obviously going to generate reams of negative press and they're not going to be want to be associated with that. It's not like they need the money, so they don't have to take a chance on a football club. Hope I am wrong.

Not exactly ideal timing to be relying on a bank. Especially if it means them taking any element of risk.

I think what's changed is Ashleys expectations in regard to the sale amount. There's obviously not been an offer to meet his ideal sale figure otherwise he'd have been off by now. That coupled with the wage bill being reduced, the start to the season from a relaively 'cheap' squad, the lack of any form of protest from the fans and the fact Moat wants in, possibly can't fund a whole takeover and is someone he can work with (they seem quite matey) makes me summise he may be here for a while yet. All guesswork as you intimate but thought I should explain my rationale. I'm not saying it's not a possibility mate, just that it's by no means a certainty. I still hope (and believe) that Ashley wants to cut all ties with the club and fucks off ASAP. Join the club. He's never going to have the faith, support or believe of the fans no matter what he does. That said, if he's in the background and someone with half a brain and a tongue runs the business properly then we'll have to grin and bare it I suppose.

  13. I'm not a fan at all, as I think you know but I actually thought yesterday was his most effective game for us yet tbh. Effort-wise, he looked committed and he put a bloody good shift in. I think we're going to have to perservere with him to get the best from him but yesterday wouldn't have done him any harm, playing in such a good atmsphere etc.
  14. Have to say this crossed my mind too. They were paid a wage by NUFC and should have had the good manners and professionalism not to throw names at their 'pals' in the event they weren't reappointed. Shocking behaviour iyam.
  15. Great post - 100% in agreement.
  16. Exactly Teasy. £4m is an incredible offer for someone who's injury prone, lost his pace many moons ago and his trickery is shot now too. I'd be inclined to push the fucker out elsewhere even though the squad is paper thin. He's absolutely finished.
  17. It'll be a miracle if we keep a hold of him. Our best player.
  18. Think they where talking about Lee Clarke and Huddersfield beat Southampton today When'd you hear that? What does that even mean? They said that Lua Lua is linked to Southampton towards the end of the game. Are you guys sure? They were talking about Lua Lua and then mentioned that Reading were linked with Rasiak of Southampton straight after. Pretty sure they didn't link Lua to them.
  19. was that in the post match interview? (I don't have sky) Yep.

"If we're not being sold next week we should give Chris and Colin a go together with us lads" - words from Nolan - Am I reading between the lines too much here?
  21. Exactly what I was thinking mate. He did say that I'm sure.
