Agreed on all fronts. It’s a big call to make for nothing to be in it.

It's absolutely hilarious that these are the standard of players Man United are going for/would look to transform their fortunes. Longstaff, James, Rice, Sessegnon while good players are only good British players and as much as you can rate them, they're hardly going to help improve their current plight IMO. Signing those types of players (British, potential - see Zaha, Young, Smalling, Jones) has hardly worked for them in the past. I think Longstaff would revolutionise their system tbqh. He'd sit and find people all day long. Completely freeing up Pogba.

He's as close as you can get to a guarantee of 20+ goals in the championship. Prolific strikers increase your chances of promotion dramatically. The value of promotion is in excess of £100m. If you're a nearly team, signing Gayle might near enough guarantee you top 2 and automatic. In which case, it'd be a bargain, even at £20m imho.

Imagine if they lose on Sunday This must be the biggest game in their history I should think (at least in financial terms). If they don't go up, they can't be far off being fucked. Permanently.

They're surely running the club at unsustainable operating losses due to the wages of the likes of Cattermole, McGeady etc. So, even if the parachute payments have been ringfenced to pay off debts, they'll be in further debts away from the money owing to Short? It's like mentally putting aside a £10k windfall you're due from an inheritance next year to pay off your credit card debt but you're still paying £3000 per month to run your house when you earn £2000 per month.

Are these the behind the scenes changes you were on about UncleBingo[/member]? I didn't know about that particular person getting a job, just that there were a few new positions/appointments being made on the coaching side of things and footballing set up. One will raise a few eyebrows. I spoke to my man at Benton today and he's completely in the dark as well, but they're all on a lenghty break now anyway. Last thing he (RB) said was 'see you next season'. The Fenham Fuckface is surely the one to raise eyebrows given he’s leeched a living for years already off NUFC? He’s got to be an Ashley appointment surely???

It did but I'm happy to be in the (very small) minority on it tbh. I understand battering teams in the league etc as goal difference, fairness to the rest of the league etc but in a one-off game, when the match is well won, it was a bit uncomfortable to watch.

Late to the party but I thought the way City went about Watford in the second half of the Cup Final was bordering on unsportsmanlike. Fine, beat them by 4, but what's the point in continuing to smash them? I honestly thought it was like a super heavyweight knocking out a light middleweight and then continuing to punch them into the canvas. I didn't enjoy seeing it one bit and struggle to see why Pep couldn't have just told them play keep ball after 4-0.

I think that's a decent deal. If we were in for him, I'd want to be a bit south of £20m but he looks like he's got a lot of potential.

Messi looks like an Electrician on his works Christmas night out.
-
I can see them wanting him 100%. He's exactly what they need imho. Carrick link being no coincidence it seems. I hate to say it, but this has Carroll written all over it, in terms of huge profit for absolutely minimal investment. If they offered north of £20m Mike would get the chopper fired up within 3 milliseconds.

Playing devils advocate, I guess that if you 'reserve' 6 stadiums on a shortlist for the 25th June 2020 then that would restrict their ability to host a pop concert/rugby game or whatever.
-
Hegazi has had a decent game here.
-
Villa are literally putting everything through Grealish here.
-
Crowd reaction got him that booking 100%.
-
He could play centre back and they'd still win that league FFS.
-
Brighton should be moving heaven and earth for him tbqh.

Took my kids to this game. They loved it. Neutral end just ended up being an extension of the away end and the atmosphere was quality. If Fulham had Rafa coaching their defence, they'd have won . Wasn't impressed with Joe Bryan so hope any historic interest in him stays that way.
-
I'd say, given where he found them and where he took them, that CH deserved next season tbh.

Every single managerial firing in the history of football has been with a view to the club improving. The question is whether their aspirations are realistic and how well they appoint coupled with the risk of having been overperforming (against their recent historical performance) with the manager they've just pumped. Brighton are gonna have to pull a 'Poch to Southampton' out of the bag imho.
-
I'm pretty sure they'd have been talking the whole time tbh. The question is whether Ashley signs off on the outcomes imho. That's the purpose of the meeting with him this week. Charnley is merely the middle man/messenger boy.

Ship five, buy five. Rules are (you have to include Hayden as he looks a certainty to be off), the five you bring in have to be realistic given the constraints of being owned by a twat and you are to assume Rafa is still the gaffer when it comes to formations/style of play etc. You can assume what you like in relation to borderline leavers such as Diame, Shelvey, Perez etc so either include them in your proposals or otherwise. You have to say what you're doing with Rondon and Gayle too. Please indicate likely fee's and what your nett spend would be. The nett spend shouldn't exceed £35m-£40m. After you've made the changes, propose the starting 11 on day one of the new season. Go Out: 1) Hayden (£15m) 2) 3) 4) 5) In 1) 2) 3) 4) 5)

None of the attacking signings he's made (other than Gross) have paid off. They've wasted some big money along the way but the sacking still feels incredibly harsh to me given all he's done for them. Hope they go down next season tbqh.

It's hugely likely MA fucks this up. I like that Rafa has put a timeframe on it today. 'You'll know in ten days' effectively puts a gun to their head which is what I suspect he's told them privately to. Under Ashley this could've dragged on all summer with any other manager (like a Pardew type) as they'd always normally be desperate yes men. Not Rafa. Give me what I want, by this time, or we're done here.
