  1. Got to say I'm a little concerned about Jonas, just so untidy in posession right now, and not really making up for that with work rate down the flank that he has. I probably wouldn't be adverse to selling him in Jan if we get a good offer and a quality replacement is brought in.
  2. 11 shots for Liverpool 2 for us (although not sure about that stat, since I can remember at least 3) , obviously we've been hugely lucky. Got to play a lot better in the second half to hold on to this. This is a distinctly average Liverpool team, wasted opportunity if we fail to take 3 points.
  3. I personally think we've been absolutely awful in that half, lucky to be ahead. Enrique is having a mare in particular.
  4. I agree with that from KK, it's spot on IMO. As much as I think that Pardew is not the right person for the job, it's counter productive to crucify the bloke before he's started, our real angst if with the oweners and decision makers running the comedy of football club.
  5. I think it would be fucking stupid not to wish the guy good luck, and to get behind him if he does a good job. But I'm going into this like the majority (if not all) of the fans with a load of scepticism and fearing the worst. The bloke needs to win us over and the only way to do that is through success on the pitch, good luck to him and I hope to god he goes on to prove all of us wrong.
  6. I don't blame him for taking the job, how may of us wouldn't do whatever it takes to land it. But my issue with the man is really his record, it just doesn't stand up to scrutiny. He doesn't deserve a gig at a PL club, he's done nothing to prove he can mange one effectively. I'm usually a person that gives others the chance to prove themselves worthy, in all aspects of my life, I'm not sceptical of folk in general. But for whatever reason, the Newcastle manager's job seems to have attracted people I have an instant distrust of before they start, McFaul, Souness, Roeder, Kinnear, Hughton and now Pardew, I expected all of those to fail and fail miserably, hopefully Pardew follows Hughton's example and proves me wrong, but his past work would prove that is unlikely.

    Danny Guthrie

I hope Pardew screws his wife, tbh.
  8. I'm never going to stop supporting the team, it's in my blood, I can't do anything about it. They could put Britney Spears in the manager's role and my mood will still be dictated my how we played this week. It's difficult if not impossible to change allegiances for true fans, but I can understand folk who just become more apathetic, to it all.
  9. I think the difference between the Westwood/Seymour/McKeag era and Mike Ashley, is that that old board clearly didn't have the ability both financially and from an intelligence point of view to run a top flight club. Mike Ashley however does, he's got the business clout and knowledge, he got the ability through his finances to surround himself with poeple who know the game. The thing is he refuses to act in a sensible manner, he's a smart guy, you don't become a self made billionaire by being stupid, perhaps though that's the problem with him, he puts to much faith in himself, and continues to surround himself with his mates rather than people who can actually get the job done. I'm still completely confused as to whathis goal is, in owning Newcastle United. Does he want to run a successful football club that will challenge for hounors ? Does he want to build the club into a valuable asset that he can sell at a good profit ? Does he want to prove to the world that you can make money out of football, by surviving in the top flight at minimal cost ? Or does he just see the club as his little play thing and really has no interest in either it's success or failure ? He's certainly not showing any signs of the first 2 motives.
  10. I will be amazed if we get anything other than a solid beating here. Wish the season would end on friday, tbh.

    Alan Pardew

If the beeb are printing this, I'm pretty certain it's happening. Rarely do they print pure baseless speculation. I'm pretty livid right now.

    Alan Pardew

I've got to say I'm coming around to the general way of thinking on the forum, that this is our man. The one thing above everything that bought us sucess last year and to a certain degree this season, has been a wonderful team spirit. So what do we do... We bring in someone who was sacked from their league 1 job for fears of dressing room unrest. You really couldn't make this shit up. Still have a faint hope that MON will take a ticket for the comedy carousel, but it's very much straws and clutching at them right now.

    Alan Pardew

Yeah I read that to and thought no way that describes Pardew. In fact it's only marginal if he has more PL experience than Hughton. Certainly Hugton has a wealth more experience in side PL clubs. I'm not convinced it';s a lock for Pardew yet, though that maybe just blind optimism. Rarely does the early favourite get the NUFC job, so I'm holding on to that hope. That comment would suggest someone like MON to me. This regime has praised the "Aston Villa model" in the past. He would fit that bill, I can see them thinking he would be someone to grow the club.
  14. Personally I would take MON in a heartbeat, anyone who wouldn't if off their trolly tbh, the question really is would he come.
  15. according to the legends, Bookies have stopped taking bets on Pardew. If that happens, well I really can't threaten anything since I live abroad so I don't go to the games anyway and I'm not ever going to stop supporting NUFC, but I'll be mightly upset, not that that'll matter in the slightest to Ashley.
  16. Cautious at the moment, lets wait to see if the man has a plan, but if it becomes apparent that there never was one, or it's an appointment like Pardew, I'll become pretty angry.
  17. It's not even a question now, you've got to take 17th, all hinges on the appointment. If it's Alan Pardew, I'll be looking up League 1 sides vying for promotion with a lot more interest than I had done.

    Chris Hughton

We owe him a lot for the way he's brought the club back, he didn't deserve this and I'm truely thankful for the fantastic job he's done in very trying circumstances. The next club to opart company with their manager, would be well advised to look at Chris, hope he's a huge sucess wherever he goes (except if it's the mackems of course )
  19. As much as I've always been proud in the draw NUFC has, from a fans, tradition and stadium point of view, most decent managers will steer a wide path around the club right now because of the ownership.
  20. if 10 is going down, then that's where my vote is right now, that can changed quickly though with the right appointment.
  21. As much as I'm angry at Ashley right now, I still want to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. If he brings in someone who will take this club forward then it will have proved to a brave and wise decision. I'm all for owners taking risks in becoming unpopular in the short term with the long term in mind, as most think the other way around. The worry though is Ashley's track record would point you to think that he's not got any clue what to do next and this was a typical knee jerk type decision to a bad defeat. It'll have to be a damn bloody good manager to be an upgrade on Hughton, who's done a fantastic job with little to work with. I'll give it a week before exploding in rage, I think.
  22. MON would gaurentee Prem Survival, which has to be our sole aim now.
  23. I've just found out. I was one of his biggest critics when he was appointed, didn't think he had it in him to ever manage a football club. But he proved me wrong completely, did a fantastic job, last year and despite some strange decisions, on the whole he's been doing great this year. FFS we are a newly prompted side in 11th spot, why was this even a debate. Feel sorry for the man, bemused at the decision and worry now for the rest of the season. I hope to god that Ashley has some sort of plan already, but with him I doubt it. Thanks for everything you did Chris, you didn't deserve this man.
