Been a really decent game.

I think you guys really over think this London thing. You'll only ever here from the players that care about this sort of thing and not those that don't, so it skews your perception. Think you'd be surprised by how many of them aren't really trying to be out and about like that all the time.

Never understood the end of June thing. So weird.

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/4596392/2023/06/09/alexis-mac-allister-transfer-liverpool/ "Liverpool knew there was a clause in the new contract Mac Allister signed last October which would help facilitate a move this summer — but they weren’t the only ones." "The clause meant that negotiations with Brighton were always going to be straightforward. The priority was getting personal terms agreed and a five-year contract was finalised after Gemelli flew to the UK last weekend, along with Carlos and Alexis." "Exactly how much Liverpool will pay for Mac Allister remains unclear with the two clubs agreeing that the fee would be undisclosed. Sources close to the player’s camp — who, like all throughout this piece, spoke on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships/their positions — indicated that the figure paid to Brighton is as low as £35million. Sources on the south coast claimed the deal would cost Liverpool up to £55million. Liverpool have remained tight-lipped, but sources have told The Athletic it was a one-off fee to Brighton with no add-ons and that the £35million figure is more accurate than £55m."

MacAllister had a release clause in his contract, which was why he went for the lower fee.

Great play from Jackson. Goal Neto.

It amazes me that people are still talking about what the players we are looking at are doing at their current clubs. If it's not clear by now that we are targeting players the staff believe are not yet the finished article, that they can get a lot more out of, then I honestly don't know what you've been following the last few years. Truly baffling. Howe said: “If he (a potential target) is already established, I think the wages and the financial package become difficult for us, speaking honestly. So as much as we would want (to bring in an established player) and it’s much easier for me to bring in a ready-made and established world-class player, I don’t think we’ve done that since I’ve been here because we haven’t been able to do it financially. We are not in the position of the other clubs, we have to bring them in and try and make them that (established). I don’t envisage that changes because of the PSR restraints on us.”

Couldn't think of a better environment for him to come into. Two Brazilian big bros to take him under their wings. Think he'd thrive.

When our interest in Cunha was being reported at the end of the season, it was reported we were happy to pay the £62 million release clause due to his positional versatility, and the different options and cover he'd be able to provide because of it. I imagine it's the same line of thinking with Joao Pedro. He's a younger version, but similar profile of player. Still has much more room to grow and develop too.

Yeah, Palmeiras signed him from Barca in January. That move straight to Barca was too much too soon for him.
-
Had a really good season at Stuttgart. Don't think I've ever seen someone that big move so well and look so good on the ball. He's so good technically. Pretty unique. Looks an exciting prospect.

Palmeiras vs Porto just kicked off. That young Brazilian kid Estevao is on loan there from Chelsea. Samu upfront for Porto and Victor Rogue upfront for Palmeiras too.

He's in the final year of his contract.
-
Yes, exactly. Even as a flip if it doesn't pan out, it would be worth it. In the meantime, like you say, worst case scenario, he'd be a useful squad player with Champions League experience.
-
Let's hope so. Nailing some of these sort of under valued signings is a quick way to make big progress as it saves so much money that could be then used elsewhere on the squad. This really does look like yet another transfer Bournemouth will nail. Reminds me of the Kluivert deal, which has paid off massively for them. They got him for even cheaper, less than £10 million.
-
This will be so annoying if he goes elsewhere in the Prem and does well. He's a talented player and is still so young. We were supposedly keen for a while but got put off by this past season. But I think it was a bit of a weird one because I don't think PSV were happy with him not signing a new contract, and so messed him about a bit. This fee is crazy low, and if we saw something in him previously, surely we ought to have another look?!

Think Frank is underrated. Seen Brentford lineup so many different ways and still be effective. 3-5-2, 3-4-2-1, 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1. Very adaptable with his lineups. Also tends to get the best out of the players he has at his disposal, and will even move them around into different positions and roles and still have them perform. Could easily see Frank over Iraola ending up similarly to us getting Howe instead of Emery. Emery and Iraola are both fantastic, but Howe and Frank end up being comparable. Think Frank also tends to get the better of Iraola too when they match up.

He should go to Everton. Fits Moyes style where they defend deeper and don't over play through midfield.
-
Spurs won't be selling Kulu, and certainly not for £40 million.
-
Johnson is just as comfortable on the left. Maddison has been on the bench for Spurs most of this season.
-
Spurs are really rich aren't they?! They were spending around £60 million on Ndombele 6 years ago! This will be nothing to them, especially with Champions League this year.
-
Spurs will be matching the money or coming damn close I imagine. Also, that will only really come into play if Man Utd match the fee to Brentford, which they don't seem to be willing to do so far.
-
Son has fallen off and is about to leave Spurs. They need a winger to replace the sort of output he has been giving them. Not sure why people think they don't need Mbeumo.
-
I knew Levy would pull this stunt as soon as Frank looked like a goer for Spurs, and with them having secured the Champions League. Makes too much sense. You're almost guaranteed the best of Mbeumo that way, and it's a position of need. Levy also spends money. He just does so badly. In this instance he knows exactly what he's going to get from the player under Frank. As close to a risk free transfer as you can get. Knew he'd come in and pay what Brentford want.
