What has Shearer said to them, the creep.

Has probably put a word in for him to be given an ambassadorial role alongside he and Keegan, due to his Newcastle roots and in honour of his parents of course.

I mean ... can you imagine if he remains in any kind of capacity. Wew, really feeling uneasy until they jettison the guy completely

This man is likely out for the rest of the season pretty much

If we are in for anyone at Leicester hopefully it is Kelechi who inexplicably continues to come off the bench at Leicester for the most part.

The market doesn’t have a clue either. Not even entirely sure we’ll know who we want until the Sporting Director is in.

Rodgers, Favre, Lampard, Gerrard, Conte and Martinez have all lead the market in the space of four days.

I’m sure Sky will keep wheeling out options to encourage a few quid on the betting market though.

A lot of the names are probably even the managers themselves putting them out there as well. Looking forward to all this being sorted tbh.

AVB could be interesting thanks to his SBR links, plus his win % is pretty good in recent jobs.

Think he's talented, and has been around the block a bit now to where it may well be the right time for him. Think his Chelsea and Spurs gigs came too soon for him.

Will also have to be very well aligned with any DOF/Sporting director we bring in as he will throw a major strop over transfers he did not want.

  5. Really hope we get one of the really highly rated DOFs we have been linked with and they recommend and bring in their own guy, and I hope it's someone that is not one of the obvious names being linked, but someone that is fully aligned with the DOF to see through the project.

Think I'd really like us to go down that route with a manager that is ultimately our own man, that can really take this thing on. Going and taking a Rodgers or Potter from Leicester or Brighton is not my preference really.

  6. I know some are sceptical, but I really like the idea of Favre a lot.

With 30 odd games to go and the January window to strengthen the squad I think he'll comfortably keep us up, and his work at Gladbach closely mirrors exactly what is needed at Newcastle at the minute.

  7. Cannot believe that back in the day Ragnick was passed over for the England football managers job with the job going to Allardyce instead. Absolutely shocking stuff.

I mean maybe they do, but they weren’t allowed to drive until very recently. My dad worked out there in the late 90s ish, and he loved it because he is white and was rich.

I think that post though human rights issues are not just women. The whole thing seems very sketchy. Bad vibes.

Man, you wouldn't believe how good some folks are living out there. They wouldn't even think of having to drive themselves around, they have folks that do that for them, and it is the very least of their concerns.

A lot of people over there genuinely look at westerners like they are off their heads when they start telling them they are being oppressed. You have to understand this is a completely different culture they have been brought up in. But I understand that there are always many sides to every story that's for sure.

  9. Would love to pick Saudi Magpie's brain about these sorts of things, but don't even want to bother asking him.

I do know some ex-pats that live out there and they'd say things similar to what that woman is allegedly saying in Mandoon's post.

Just can't be arsed with it all really. Let those that feel the need to write on these matters continue to do so if they want. I just think in the grand scheme of things leadership in the west is not at all concerned with any of these matters whatsoever.

Been looking on Brighton’s forum and they’re all up in arms about the Saudi stuff (fair enough) and saying shit about how delusional our fans are. Standard, boring stereotyping. I hope they end up having to play at that Athletics Stadium again.

For this reason alone, we need to get Potter and ruin their season.

I can't lie if I was a Brighton fan and came on here to see fans talking about getting Potter and signing Bissouma. I'd be kind of irked by it all

I genuinely would love us to become the kind of club that can go out and identify a manager of our own to grow the club and get some young up and coming talent that really make their names at Newcastle. It's one of the reasons ASM has been such a joy.

Respect to ManDoon for carrying this.

I agree with pretty much all of your feelings on it. But I disagree that this isn't aligned with the other investments in the other companies. Whatever the company is...the Saudi state is still abhorrent. Surely the point is not the type of companies they invest in, but the type of repulsive state they are. So I think it's valid for those to point out the hypocrisy of someone riding in an *Uber whilst using *Twitter to accuse NUFC fans for having blood on their hands. Those dismissing those investments as not being the same cause for concern, are surely making the same forgiving concessions we're accused of?

As far as we're concerned: I think the conversation will mature over time. And we'll be able to discuss the awful Saudi laws without all feeling personally attacked

*not sure they still have stakes in these companies. But my point is there.

Yeah, I don't really understand myself how you can separate their club ownerships from everything else. If other countries really cared about their practices they would be barred from trading anything at all with any of them. The whole thing is just so stupid. Either cut them off completely or just stop with the foolishness.

I really don't think Newcastle fans should praise/support/defend anything related to Saudi Arabia.

In fact, it should absolutely be the opposite.

I'm gonna be strongly against all uses of the club to sportswash the crimes of the Saudi Arabia leadership.  And I hope others will be too.

If that results in these owners pulling back on their plans or pulling out entirely...  I wouldn't care less.

That's as far as my mind has got on this.  Will think a little more and maybe post a little update on where I land on this issue another time.

The thing is, once these lot buy these clubs they typically disappear into the background. Occasionally showing up for big games or when the club wins something. They don't really parade themselves about or tend to make a big song and dance about their involvement typically.

Not sure we did like, most of the offers we had prior to PIF seemed to be time wasters or the types who were looking to load us with debt so they could cash in further down the line. Leicester type owners are the exception rather than the rule.

Well that's certainly the way it was always spun to us that's for sure, but that was always Ashley's narrative I imagine.

  14. Just now, ManDoon said:

Good take. I just wish Newcastle didn’t have to be so fucking complicated. Like couldn’t we have got someone like the Leicester guy. It’s a curse

I'm certain we had numerous offers from people similar to the Leicester owners, but just like the UK government, Mike Ashley was only ever looking out for his best interests and that was getting the most money he could.

I really don’t agree at all that you can make the “we are all bad!” Argument and call it western exceptionalism. We simply don’t flog or kill people for their sexuality. There are levels. Yes America bad! Etc but they are not even operating on the same level as the KSA

That's from your point of view though that's the thing. In your world abortion is perfectly normal, in others that is paramount to killing babies, and what could be worse than that when viewed from that lens?

Maybe we'll eventually come to a time when these nations won't deal with each other on any level due to these differences, but I can't really see it happening to be honest.

The little weirdo Levy being the most upset kills me

He's made a complete mess of Spurs and it's dawning on him he isn't going to be able to fix it with so many other clubs coming to the forefront now, and he's got that big fancy new stadium to pay off still I presume ;D

Not totally up to date with modern continental managers, Is he the lad who played up top for Napoli in the 90s?

    Don't think so, no.

Ah, just seen @Wolfcastle's post that was Daniel Fonseca.

You have to at least try to laugh it off. We're gonna get it from everyone and if you can't let it go and just smile, your health is going to suffer. It will be fierce and it will be incessant for a while. The jealousy and hypocrisy if off the charts and it's only day 2

Absolutely, but my goodness the arrogance of those quotes. Wanting the Super League now so as to lock out the nouveaux rich. My God man

Definitely not going anywhere near any other club's forums for a good while. That is all way too cringe worthy. Urgh.

  19. Paulo Fonseca was the name I was trying to remember yesterday.

Apparently he was on the list to become manager had the takeover gone through previously, and was later linked with Tottenham though that didn't go through in the end either.

You said exactly what I was trying to say earlier but much more eloquently

Man, I think you raised a great point about just laughing off such ridiculous sentiments though, because those quotes really annoyed me

I think he’s a really underrated player honestly. Was linked with all the big clubs recently. The thing I like is hes plug and play. He can get in the team and immediately make a difference. I love signing forrins dont get me wrong but we need a core of experience to stay up this season

I totally get where you're coming from, thanks to the predicament that fat head has put us in we do need to be very sure of who we bring in, and he's guaranteed to step in and perform right away.

I do think there's some really good talent out there we could get without giving Brighton 40 odd million to improve themselves further. With a proper setup in place now we should be ale to get in a good bunch of players to see us safe, as we are still quite early in the season thank God.
