    Jacob Murphy

Come on man. He's a Premier league winger that can't take a man on, struggles to complete a pass in build up from the back, and can't hold off players or keep the ball when he's under the slightest bit of pressure. Having said that, if you can get him the ball in some space high up the pitch, he's capable of putting in a dangerous ball. I think ideally you'd want him in a 3-4-2-1 system, where he'd play as an overlapping right wing back, which would hide a lot of his issues and accentuate his strengths.
  2. That's brilliant Brentford. Great day for Newcastle in the league.
  3. Brentford lead! Let's go!
  4. Huijsen got done for pace pretty badly just then.
  5. Get in Wissa! What a season he's having.
  6. So good from Kerkez. Guy is a machine bombing up and down that line.
  7. Keep seeing people on here saying we're never finishing above them, which is really quite pitiful too.
  8. Brentford win please.
  9. Need forum favourites Arsenal to do us a favour tomorrow man. If they beat Chelsea we will be in a great position to jump ahead of both Man City and Chelsea after our next game.
  10. This Man City vs Brighton game staying a draw would be ideal!
  11. Need Brighton to get that draw man.

I think Jones is very ordinary. I don't see it. I've just quickly gone on one of the Liverpool forums to see what they're saying with the news today, and there's barely any reaction. The quote below from on there, is exactly what I see from him. "Curtis is just not good enough.....consistently. The ratio being something like one decent game in about five/six. He's one of those players that just wallows around, a pass here and there, but seldom affecting the game. He lacks identity on the pitch...a personality...he's sort of nothing." https://www.lfcreds.com/reds/index.php/topic,50471.1058.html

Yeah, I agree, that's all fine. He's a decent squad player for his club. For England though, with some of the other options available ... nah.

Liverpool's midfield 3 is Gravenberch, MaCallister and Szoboszlai. Jones basically rotates in for any of those three, and so has played a good amount of minutes. As far as I can see he's a fill in player. I really don't see what he adds as a stand out ability. Imagine us looking for a midfielder this summer, out of those 5, and the choice being Curtis Jones. I'd be at a loss for words.

Angel Gones has likely been benched because he hasn't signed a new contract and is leaving on a free in the summer. Playing 800 more minutes does not make Jones a better or more useful player. You're fawning over him because he's at Liverpool. Once again you're on the hype train. As the Jones fan that you are, you tell me what his stand out qualities are then? Gallagher gives far more work rate, intensity, pressing and ball winning. Gomes gives better composure on the ball, awareness, vision and passing both from deeper and forward areas. Gibbs-White carries the ball better, passes better and hits the ball better from distance. Wharton is far better setting the tempo and progressing the ball from back to front. What is it Curtis Jones does at a high level exactly? That puts him ahead of those?

Curtis Jones does not start anywhere near regularly enough to justify inclusion over any of those others. He is often played at either 10 or central and it really isn't clear which he is better at. In either the 10 or in a central midfield pair with a back 3 behind them, I'm going with any of those ahead of Curtis Jones.

Everyone talking about Hendo. I think Curtis Jones ahead of the likes of Gallagher, Gibbs-White, Angel Gomes, Adam Wharton ... is pretty outrageous.

Which Jones is that? Curtis Jones?!

    Dan Burn

Tuchel: "With Dan I have spoken, it was a very impressive phone call. Very impressive messages which made me very comfortable in this call-up that we will pick a top team players that will help us to build the right team." "Dan is maybe a little bit overlooked. A very impressive career, a very solid player. He plays regularly for Newcastle, for a Champions League club. He is a leader, he is a very solid defender. Very different path into the England squad but we are happy to have both of them (Burn and Lewis-Skelly). I am happy and excited to get to know them and hopefully they can prove us right."

    Dan Burn

I mean ... this just isn't true though is it. He's not some ground breaking passer of the ball, but he is solid enough distributing the ball, and is comfortable on the ball too. Also, Tuchel doesn't play that progressive a style. He can actually be quite pragmatic with his setup.
  21. Looks like Quenda will stay on loan with Sporting next year, and then join Chelsea in 2026.
  22. Man Utd fans thought they'd be signing him this summer!
