Not good enough

A huge weakness of VAR is that they can't intervene for yellow card events. If the referee misses a foul that's outside the box or doesn't meet the threshold for serious foulplay (and a red card) it just gets ignored.

Players clearly knackered and not helped by Wissa having a shitter in the 1st half.

He doesn't seem to have much, if any, control of the area. You'd want a good keeper to be much more vocal so defenders know when to challenge and when to let him deal with everything. He did well with the penalties but he was poor for 2 of the 3 goals in open play.

I fucking detest the way that we play this tippy tappy shit on the edge of the box between wingers, fullback & midfielders. Just put the ball into the box. Their defenders and goalkeeper keep making mistakes, put the ball into the box and help them make mistakes.

I'm fairly sure that ligament injuries take longer to heal than a broken ankle. If he's back before the end of April I'll be surprised.

He's on a free in the summer and will be looking at getting £300k a week from whoever he signs for. Palace might accept a bid for him but he'd be a moron to accept any contact that doesn't match what he'd be getting if he just waits a few months.

I'd have former players covering VAR rather than the referee's mates group. Former players wouldn't care about the feelings of the ref on the pitch and would probably be better at gauging fouls.

English referees don't like VAR. They didn't want it before it was introduced and would like it to go away. They want to go back to a time where they were the infallible gods of the football pitch with no one else being in a position to tell them that they've fucked up. I'm sure that half the problems with VAR would be fixed if it taken out of referees hands.

On seeing the replay I didn't think that it was a penalty because it was more ball-to-hand than hand-to-ball. Still annoying though since we lost the game and it's a decision that we've all seen given as a penalty previously, even if it was given incorrectly.
