Well that was shit. Too many players just didn't turn up today & we don't have the squad depth to cope.

Derby games are the worst way to measure a team. Teams always raise their performances in those games.

I think he does better when he gets explicit instructions on his role in the game. Which players to mark, where and when to make runs, who to pass to, etc. When he comes on as a sub he doesn't get the level of instructions and it's usually at the same time that the opposition is making changes too and he can't adapt to those changes on the fly. He's shown that he's a capable player under Rafa and Howe, both of whom almost certainly give him that level of instruction, but was crap under Bruce and his Let's just kick it about style. Either way, it's time for him to move on. He's not getting much game time now and doesn't look great when he does get on. If we ever want to really start to complete for the league we need to be much more ruthless and move on those players that aren't capable of keeping up any more.

That's where Wilson is with us now. He was brilliant for us in previous years, helped us stay in the league, propelled us into the Champion's League, got himself England caps on the back on his great performances. He's risking all of that being forgotten now and being remembered only for his poor performances.

It's not just DCL's wages either. If he were to be signed on £200k wages (for example) then every first team player earning less than him is going to start asking why they earn less than him whilst doing more for the team. You sign one player on inflated wages and suddenly you have to give new contracts to half the team to keep them happy. Do Bruno or Isak have contract clauses that they must be the highest earner? Giving a free transfer a higher wage automatically means increasing theirs too.

Thought it was remarkable how knackered the Leicester players looked when the 3rd goal went in when seeing the replays. They were lazy, uninterested and unfit. It's no wonder they're going down.

Sean Longstaff hired a psychologist. Steve Bruce was such a terrible manager that at least one player required therapy. Possibly more than just Longstaff as well since he was given the psychologist's phone number by Matt Ritchie, apparently unprompted.

I can't stand the guy but it made such a change from someone like Steve McManamanamanamanaman or Lee Dixon co-commentating and actively supporting the team we're trying to beat. Having someone who may not like us but fucking despises our opponents was great.

He was absolutely outstanding today. There have been better defenders who have played for us, and better defensive performances, but in my lifetime no defender has had such an influential game as Dan Burn did today. Just brilliant.
