Rob McElhenney was so inspired by watching Sunderland Til I Die that he and Ryan Reynolds bought Wrexham. He's said that he didn't think he could afford a club like Sunderland though, so they went for a lower league club instead. I'm fairly sure they could have actually bought the club for a couple of packs of chewing gum if they'd really wanted it. The documentary has brought them some worldwide recognition, not necessarily fans.

Is Clark doing it deliberately? He's been hell bent on ruining every match he's been involved in all season.

Is this club actually, genuinely cursed?

A Category 1 academy is staggeringly expensive for a League One club, they cost something like £2.5m per year minimum to maintain that status. For a club with such a rapidly diminishing turnover, that's something they cannot afford.

That came up a week or so ago. It has also been pointed out that clubs colluding in that way would be highly illegal. Not just a small telling off by the league, but actual jail sentences.

Still not 100% convinced by his appointment but I'm optimistic having seen more about his tactics and methodology, especially good seeing his drive to further his own development after he left Bournemouth. Just quite good to have a manager who might take the job seriously.

Is he fuck. He gives the ball away with his passing half the time and that's just with his short passing, his long-range passing has completely gone to shit and he rarely finds a team mate. He sits far too deep so when we do get the ball to the midfielders he's so far back he's in line with the centre backs which leaves us hoofing the ball up the pitch and losing possession every fucking time. He's fucking woeful.

Decent result considering the dismal 1st half. That last 5 minutes after the red card were absolutely infuriating though. Why didn't Shelvey just take a shot rather than attempting whatever that free kick was. Just get a shot on target & hope that the makeshift keeper makes an error. Then to end up being outplayed whilst they only had 9 outfield players was just the icing on the shitcake. Also, Joelinton didn't look awful when he came on.

Howe is a step up from Bruce. From Emery to Howe though, that not a step down, it's a headfirst dive off the Tyne Bridge.

I'd be seriously underwhelmed with Howe. Prior to the takeover he'd have been an excellent choice, but not now. We need to be aiming higher.

We desperately need someone who actually knows how to organise the players we have into a team because that was a woeful display after they scored. Amateur stuff at the back. Completely devoid of ideas going forward if ASM gets marked out of the game (which happens far too easily).

He's often most quiet against teams who worry about him enough to mark him tightly and close him down quickly. In theory, the team should be able to use this to their advantage by giving the ball to someone else as an outlet if he could use that marking to drag defenders around and create space for others. I'm not sure that Fraser is that outlet though, he was appalling today.

Not sure we deserved the point there. Palace outplayed us for most of the game and it was only the last few minutes when we apparently decided the game was winnable and started attacking, at which point they looked panicked. Still no wins. Still dreadful possession stats. Still pathetic passing. Hopefully a week full of actual training and preparation will start to make the team look a bit better.
