I'm resigned to the fact that Nolan will always play. Against the better sides i'd rather not have him in CM.

We barely looked like scoring, though. Nolan was invisible and left Carroll isolated (yet he still did brilliantly with what he had). As soon as we went 4-4-2 we put them on the back foot and actually looked like making a game of it. Surely you don't think this 4-4-1-1 business with Nolan in the hole is actually worth persisting with? You were dead against as far as I remember. In general, yes. But against certain teams I think it's a decent option. It's worth remembering that we don't really have a partner for Carroll, and we can't afford passengers/strikers who pose no threat against teams like City and Spurs.

We didn't lose because of the system. We were the best team on the park for a good 60 minutes with 4-5-1.

This arguement has persisted for too long. We all know the score; Nolan is a poor footballer and a poor athlete who reads the game well and is the best finisher at the club. When he isn't scoring, he's generally very ineffective, as Mick says.

Needs to learn how to cross the ball more effectively though. He put it right on Carroll's head at least 4 times.

Routledge was our best player apart from Carroll. I really like the lad, he's got loads going for him.

We have two keepers the wrong side of average. I'd probably go with Harper for the rest of the season once he's fully fit, but there's an arguement for Krul, too. His kicking is absolutely abysmal, though.

Routledge is a good player. Smith and Guthrie aren't.

he's f***ing MILES better than routledge for a start. He was 3 years ago. There's not much between them these days. It's been a long, long time since i've seen SWP have a game like Routledge did against Chelsea a few weeks back.

They're abysmal. We should take them to the cleaners in 10 days.
