Part of me is very, very pissed off that Shearer will get the job simply because the concensus wants him. It's embarassing tbh. Should Hughton continue to do well, then get demoted to accomodate Shearer, what the hell happens if form drops? Do we sack Shearer then appoint him in 5 years when he's polished his trade elsewhere? Give him the job when it isn't working, by all means, but beforehand would make no sense whatsoever. And I still think he'd play Nicky Butt

To be honest, I dont want a striker who'll run around, work hard for the team and close people down. We have plenty of those already. You have to have one striker who stays in the danger area and takes his chances when they arrive
-
Hardly his fault his hip died on him. You clearly dont know the facts mate, at 24 he basically gave up trying to be a footballer
-
There's no way he'll ever be an assistant and it wouldn't do him any good anyway. He needs to manage a lower league club right now
-
Bernard is 29 and has essentially been retired for 3 years, what an absolute waste
-
I'd personally offer Viduka a pay as you play contract and go for Danny Mills
-
Lovenkrands clearly has better acceleration than anyone in the squad. Enrique on the other hand is a very strong runner, perfect pace for a full-back

He played effectively every game last season and was arguably our worst player.. we judged Kinnear on the performances of 15-20 games why cant we be as critical with Colo? I dont think he was anywhere near as bad as Butt, or several others who i could mention. This was Coloccini's first season in english football man. He had good games and bad games, and so far is doing well in the championship. Kinnear is 63 years old on the back of 3 decades as a football manager, there's no room for improvment there and his past record is basically abysmal.

when did you start saying this? an hour ago

His mental attributes are fine, he's just slow, clumsy and lacking in ability with the ball at his feet, doesn't mean he's a bad defender though.
-
I honestly couldn't care less anymore. But to be fair to Hughton one advantage he has over Shearer is his humility. The last thing we need is Shearer strutting in and laying down the law with the likes of Barton and the other underperformers, it doesn't work.

Fourth choice centre back behind Davies, Cuellar and Dunne? Who is Everton's fourth choice centre back? Or Spurs's? King, Woodgate, Bassong, Dawson........so Dawson. I'd be very surprised if Bassong gets benched to accomodate Woodgate
-
I don't see how, his concentration isn't bad and he rarely makes position errors. His lack of strength and pace is a problem but he appears to be adapting well and has definetly taken a more cynical approach in his first few championship games. Of course people like you will never give him a chance, you'll have a go at him constantly at the game then argue that every goal we concede is his fault, it's pathetic. Stop listening to Lawrenson and actually watch him, if of course you agree that it's possible to defend well without last ditch tackles.

I don't like the fact that people on this board seem incapable of giving praise to one player without being vindictive about another. Coloccini and Jonas would both walk into a championship best Xl and showed against Palace how important they are to us. The Jury is still out on Jonas' attitude but Coloccini has demonstrated a willingness to adapt and work hard recently. I'm very, very glad that both are still here.

Good signing. There'll be a good few saturday nights where we'll complain about the game passing him by but he'll defintely get goals. He'll also offer much needed penetration and somewhat intelligent movement alongside the brawn of Ameobi/Carroll/Ranger.

If we keep him, Taylor and Coloccini together we'll concede very few in this league

So does context not come into play at all? I said that rightfully, he should play against Reading on merit. Harper was terrible and injured, whereas Krul was fit and played absolutely brilliantly. It's not the same as saying he should be the number 1 goalie; but he deserved to keep his place for that game. fair enough. You weren't the only one, but the reaction to that WBA game was the most ridiculous thing i've experienced on this forum, people oblivious to Krul's mistakes and suddenly saying he was better than Harper, baffling. They said he was better in that game which he clearly was & that because of that he deserved to start the next game, which he did. Whats so baffling about it ? People saying that Krul was a better keeper based on 45 mixed bag minutes and you wonder what's baffling about that? Use your fucking head man Jayson

If our outfield wasn't so f***ing amazing i'd say quite the opposite. He's got faults that could see us drop quite a few points really; i'd certainly put the blame on him for that goal at West Brom earlier in the season. He's always been a really good shot-stopper but he's got all Given's other faults, just sorta multiplied. I don't love Harper at all, I think he has a fair few flaws, but I think he's still a lot more polished at his trade than Mr.Krul at this point in time. Understandably so. Would be 0 in 5 if it wasn't for his f*** up at West Brom. which looks somewhat favourable compared to Krul's 3 f*** ups against Huddersfield Is this strictly a Harper vs Krul argument? I was just speaking in general, i think LLLO was aswell. I'd have him over Krul but i'm still not totally comfortable with him as number 1. you seem to be changing your mind a lot in that respect mate In terms of GK, CM and CB there's absolutely nowt to worry about for me Really? We're only two injuries away from Simpson-Kadar being our centre back pairing. To be fair, I was talking about the first choice Xl. It goes without saying that we have no cover whatsover
-
Don't you think that with Harper?
-
to be fair, like Viduka we can sign him anytime we want, just preferably before the Cardiff game

you called Harper 'wank' and said Krul should play against Reading, right?
