Bellamy - Bernard is a stupid comparison tbh, wind the clock back 18 months and many were calling Bellars world class, with a strong element of justification
-
daft man. you're talking almost 6 years back, and a player who only had 2 good seasons in his entire career
-
Bellamy is 5'9 according to wiki

The Newcastle United Transfer Thread: D-Day [Spoiler: Not Much Happens]
Ronaldo replied to LooneyToonArmy's topic in Football
Upson is a very good defender but his horrific lack of pace combined with Coloccini's tendancies to back off would probably be a recipe for disaster tbh -
isn't anything like the player he was? You mean like 18 months ago when he almost single handedly beat Barcelona at the Nou Camp and helped put Liverpoool in the champions league final
-
f***ing hell, I agree with Ronaldo.
-
Shola and Butt being in the squad next year sickens me tbh. Kinnear really is the absolute fucking worst
-
stupid calling Bramble, Bernard and Lua Lua dross tbh. All more than had their moments under SBR
-
I think you mean you'd take the Bellamy of old back. The current Bellamy isn't up to much, I'm not suggesting our strikeforce aside from Oba and Owen are either. still think he's quality. Bags of skill and tenacity, not lost a great deal of pace either
-
at Blackburn he scored something like 18 goals in his only season there. Averaged better than a goal a game at Celtic and despite being played in a system clearly not suited to his game, gave a good account of himself at Liverpool. He's struggled with injury at West Ham but generally done well and let's not forget how well he was doing in his last half-season with us. Take him back in a second tbh, love him as a footballer

Viduka every time, with Owen it's 50-50
-
Viduka hasn't worked hard for at least 5 years now. Quite frankly he's a parasite. I was embarrassed we signed him tbh. You have to wonder what the hell we were doing signign Boro's scraps. Humiliating. Boro's scraps? they all think he's fantastic and would take him back in a second in Boro tbh He's a very good player on the ball tbh and the best finisher at the club by some distance. He's lost a lot of weight and should he have a good 6 months in the team i'd offer him a new, reduced contract agree with that except the finishing part, thats owen. Owen finishing isn't nearly as good as Viduka's man. owens goal record (even just for us) suggests he's loads better. viduka is a very good finisher but owen is just simply better. Owen's a better goalscorer, doesn't make him a better finisher. Viduka's finishing is immaculate imo, Owen's is decent

Owen looked a very good all round player when we signed him tbh, rememeber loads on here commenting on it

2003-04 = 56 points 2005-06 (Souness and Roeder) = 58 points enough said tbh. Very lucky to finish 5th. Without Robert's 12 goals and god knows how many assists we would have finished mid-table at very best
-
harsh on Viduka tbh, he's obviously worked hard to get back into shape
-
draw all over this one. Would like to see a third striker being thrown into the mix, preferably Xisco, in light of our woeful midfield options. Danny Murphy nailed on in January tbh
-
to be honest I couldn't care less how other fans see us, as long as we get results. I'd be ecstatic with long ball tactics, bypassing the midfield and winning ugly. Drawing and losing ugly isn't quite the same like
-
Very sad. Good to hear he's still fighting
-
York, you're absolutely right about Kinnear and the clueless c*** is the last person I want selling players in January. However, you talk about the squad at times like it would be top 6 with a competent manager in charge. In reality, we had one not so long back and still looked like mid-lower table garbage. The midfield in particular is championship standard at best man.
-
Drogba offers little more than goals? fucking hell funny he managed the most assists in the premiership 2 seasons running, honestly man
-
That's the thing I'm worried about tbh; he doesn't seem to be learning. It was f***ing obvious Stoke were on top and going to score and what does he do? Take off Martins then Geremi. Fulham, Sunderland and Wigan were all similar games where we took our foot off the gas after scoring, so it's not just bad luck. Personally I am still raging that Stoke were allowed to boss us for the whole second half in front of our own supporters. Can you imagine that happening to Chelsea or Liverpool? It was an absolute disgrace and the manager allowed it to happen. No wonder Kinnear didn't have the balls to face the press after the game. bang on
-
Just words. He'll take us down, an eventuality that looked nailed on from the start and even moreso now. f*** all we can do either way. I don't think he'll take us down. There's still 22 games left in the season. and I expect at least 20 to be tougher propositions than Stoke at home
