decent read, but not wanting to play for the club isn't an excuse for not putting in maxmimum effort in 05-06 he was our best player. But only because everyone else bar Solano was pretty shite. Personally i'd let him start the season on the LW if we play 4-4-2. If he doesn't perform, he's out and Duff comes straight back in when fit.
-
see your point completely remember a few years back, maybe 2003, a nameless centre-half saying he'd rather face Henry than Shearer. Same sort of thing - at face value Terry seems to be more dominant
-
right heading - Rio tackling - tie pace - Rio Strength - Rio reading - Rio technique - Rio it's no contest, Rio is ten times the defender Carragher could ever be
-
indeed, the acceleration is still there to a lesser extent and his strength cannot be questionned if he maintains fitness, he'll be absolutely unstoppable
-
Things must be getting bad if he's world class, I'd have Terry ahead of Ferdinand 9.999 times out of 10. terry is not half as effective as Rio. Rio has not real weaknesses anymore, concentration problems seem to have been eradicated
-
god i'd love to see Marquez at CB for us, what a player
-
aye, but LB first and foremost I can just about tolerate Solano and Geremi. Cannot tolerate Baba/Ramage/Carr
-
Rio is absolute world class, Terry is slightly behind him but they're country miles ahead of Zamie Carragher
-
...And yet he 's still head and shoulders above any defender we've seen in black and white, bar Woodgate, for the last 10(?) years. Says it all tbh. I think if you isloate the premiership years and 10 ever-present teams from that period, we'll have the least amount of defenders fit for the top flight it's a fucking disgrace
-
the idiot from the Sun that called Carragher 'the best defender in europe' after 'Pool beat Barca earlier this year he's never been good enough for international football. Rugged, agressive, all-action defending can only get you so far
-
if Allardyce doesn't want to play 4-4-2 but DOES want to play both Viduka and Owen, Raul would be an ideal signing Milner Barton Emre Raul Viduka Owen could see somthing along those lines

I cant actually see the article. What's the question? Oh and maybe i went a bit to far on the crossing ability but i definatly feel he was better then Shearer on the other two points. As Ronaldo has said, if his positional sense and movement was as good as Shearer's then why has he only managed a dozen goals in the Premiership? Surely if his movement was that good he'd be finding plenty of space in the box? hmmm is that some sort of trick question?. Maybe because his finishing isnt as good as Shearers? His finishing must be awful if he's got better movement and positioning than someone who scored 30+ in the league 3 seasons running but can only manage 12 himself. indeed
-
come on, if he had the movement and posiitonal sense of Shearer in his prime he'd be scoring 30+ a season
-
welcome to the forum, keep the posts coming. US players will obviously have the benfit of terrific conditioning facilities so I expect to see a few more making an impact in the premiership in the next few years
-
it will, but at the same time it we wont have to rely on it journeyman weren't the target for most of Shepherd's reign and the same applies for Ashley......... i hope

Onyewu = pile of s**** but yeah, I see your point. Just seemed funny during wc06, game vs Italy, every name mentioned from both sides seemes to be italian. Got to say, spent a lot of time in the US and without the italians the food over there would be worse than over here
-
is it just me or are all of their good players italian-american?
-
to be honest, Queudreu shagged Mark Schwartzer's missus, so I give him credit for that he's better than Ramage, Carr, Baba, Huntington, Edgar, Taylor etc at LB so i'd be happy to have him as back-up
-
<snigger> with the exception of clubs managed by Glenn 'every issue of four four two' Roeder 2 months ago people were suggesting we get Fowler
-
you've never been to Spurs, have you? too right I have, but only outside upton park can you buy 'ready to eat' chicken that hasn't been near a grill, then encounter fans wearing pink scarfs who point at you and shout 'Michael c****** Owen' wankers
-
how many strikers do West Ham need? never hated a rival club so much in my life
-
are you some sort of idiot, we have Stephen Carr Oh, sorry, forgot about him. Hang on...... He's a right back. We have no real right back who isn't a thick fat irish t***, so "yes". Not a difficult choice in fairness. hahahaha indeed, fucking despise the guy
