To be fair to Brett, as much as I basically want us to continue failing until Pardew gets the sack, he's right in that it makes zero sense to continue picking up players who aren't fit for purpose in the PL and thus end up not getting used by the manager.
-
He's Championship level right now.

With Gerrard sure to start Wilshere should be on the bench.

At one point of the season where we finished 5th he was an outstanding replacement for Cabaye when the later was out. He deputised for Tiote far more than Cabaye. I don't think you're right there. I am. Cabaye only missed 4 games. Guess he meant that it was Cabaye who deputised for Tiote, while Guthrie came in to play the 'Cabaye' role. That's what deputised means. Well, no, because that's not what happened. Guthrie played deeper than Cabaye.

What a load of blah. Could you not have found a better word, like? Bollocks or utter shite to give you two examples.

Barton isn't good enough for the Premier League.

Carson's from Cumbria. It's in the North West.

Thank Christ that mismatch of adipose tissue isn't managing England.

He said something very positive about him after the friendly in 2007.

If we are picking based on form, surely Barry gets in over Carrick? Yep, had a very good season for Everton. Nee point man. Lampard shouldn't be there, but it should be in exchange for someone who might actually be useful in the future for England. Stones/Flanny/Carroll. Agreed. So if we need a goal off the bench you'd rather which unpicked midfielder come on instead of Lampard? Course he should be there. The reason he hasn't got as many this season is that arsehole Mourinho playing him as a DM. Lampard played further forward away to Athletico and looked way of the pace. Doesn't even begin to address the point, like. I'm not saying start him.

It isn't the chances he's struggled with, though. It's basic stuff he's getting wrong. He's a better keeper than FF by a long way from what I've seen of him at Celtic, mind.

Agreed. The fact both Pellegrini, Mancini & the last 2-3 England managers have used him indicate that he's a good player. He shouldn't start but he's a very viable option off the bench. A smart and tactically aware player. IMO he should play ahead of Lampard. In fact, Lampard is lucky to even be in the squad. He doesn't offer a lot defensively, his engine has gone, his passing is not brilliant and he hasn't scored many goals this season. He's Chelsea's 4th choice CM behind Matic, Ramires & Luiz. And tbh even Mikel has looked better in recent months. Nah, Lampard's way past his best but he's a smart passer still and is one of the very few natural goalscorers in the squad. He's a must.

Caulker's an upgrade but he's poor at dealing with players running at him, just like Colo.
-
Welbeck has been in pretty much every England side since Roy took over. He was always going, man.
-
Carroll ahead of Lambert and Terry ahead of Smalling and that would've been my squad, I think.
-
Smalling and Jones would always be going anyway as CB back-up so it makes sense to only take one RB.
-
Baines isn't as good at defending, and you know that.
-
He'll have to be physically forced out and fortunately we're not far off having the manpower to make that feasible without anyone having to go to prison. I'm optimistic.
-
Ah, the days when folk would come round to your house to 'watch the match on Sky'. Good times.
-
Yeah, they're resigned to him going elsewhere.
