I wonder whether Sissoko was over-played. He was new to Premiership football, but seemed to be playing every minute of every game. He's clearly a good athlete, but he started to look more and more knackered. Plus he was trying to do too much himself, in a struggling side. As for Cabaye and Tiote, I'd rather we had two players who could do a bit of both passing and tackling. I don't think C and T were ever the awesome combination that often gets cited. This I agree with. Cabaye and Tiote have never complimented each other, in spite of what 11-12's results suggest.

By that point Shearer only cared about himself. No coincidence that Bobby was sacked 2 days after dropping Shearer in favour of Kluivert and a few weeks after Shearer confronted him after being subbed at Celtic. Bobby suggested to FS that he needed replacing and I don't believe for one second it wouldn't have got back to Shearer in some form. Nor is it a coincidence that Shearer recommended Bobby's replacement to be someone who'd lived next to Shearer during his Blackburn days and tried to sign Shearer that very summer (2004). Shearer was self preserving to the club's detriment.

As if you can liken Dalglish to Souness, man. KD took over a team that had peaked and finished 2nd, getting us into the Champions League. Souness seemingly went out of his way to almost kill this club. If if ever bump into that horrible prick I'll slap his 'proper' face.

That's the thing, though. Players like Cabaye can't express themselves thoroughly because of him. Cabaye has to drop deep to be to man to collect the ball from the defence/keeeper because Tiote simply cannot be trusted to.

He was very good, or at least appeared to be. Unfortunately his attacking weaknesses were totally exposed in games we were expected to win and his defensive liabilities became common knowledge to opposing managers.

After Nicky Butt and Alan Smith I think anything with a pulse would've looked impressive to us, tbh.

I've just bought it for my hols, too. Souness and Shearer should've gone in the summer of 2005. We could've built one hell of a side around Bellamy.
