It was disappointing to be going into the last two games unlikely to make CL having blown a lead and Shearer missed a pen. Bad decisions had been made off the pitch but there was no wider protest that day, our team and management were booed off for ending the season disappointingly - the league, and the UEFA semi defeat. I think from that year onward we always changed the away and both keeper shirts annually, even though the home shirt was kept for every two years up until 2009. Monkey making I assume. (We did change the away outfield in 96 - from the burgundy hoops to the grey one).
