I think it’s partly that Rafa was pretty much this lone light of hope that inexplicably came to our shit club and beyond what anyone really expected, stayed with us in the championship. All our hope was on his shoulders. Eddie is class but it’s not like that, the hope is not all about him in the same way.

Where I normally sit in the lower Gallowgate it doesn’t seem there’s room for official standing. It’s tight as anything there - knees up against the seat in front, there’s no way they’re fitting a bar in there too without restructuring the steps etc

There’s nothing inherently worse about ManU fans, but I think that level of success brings out the worst in some people. There are other successful teams but a huge swath of ManU fans have experienced constant success in a way no other current crop have. It’ll happen to Man City too with time and would happen to us too. I genuinely don’t envy them at all, it sounds proper shit to me. I do envy teams like Tottenham and Leicester that have tasted success but can appreciate it. Man City at first but decreasingly so as they get spoilt. having said all that Chelsea are prob the biggest cunts in general for some reason

As I've said in the other thread I think the experience at Wembley must have been spatially quite variable. i.e. I believe people who both said it was shit and good. I thought it was decent enough. I've been to plenty of class away atmospheres and it wasn't like that, but never expected that. From where I was we definitely seemed louder than ManU fans. Anyway, agree with the overall point of needing to improve. Getting people together definitely needs to happen. Like many I love a good sing but I don't have the bottle to get it going myself, especially when surrounded by people sitting quiet.

i always thought the saving grace when it’s quiet at ours is you can’t hear the away fans. I’d rather have a quiet atmosphere than a loud one supporting the away team. im not convinced it’d spring the home fans into action - when we’re loud away it rarely encourages the home fans, it just means geordie voices dominate

Yes - I always thought of Arsenal fans as being shit and was surprised by the atmosphere there. It was actually so loud m that it made it difficult for us to get the away end going cos they’d drown us out a lot of the time.

I’ve been going away since I was 6 and I always stood on my seat for years . People never seemed to mind but got a bit awkward for me when I was a bit older/taller and not really tall enough to see but too tall to stand on seat. Obviously there’s a shorter adults to consider too who prob don’t want to be on a seat.

I always want to tell people whinging about standing to fuck off, but then obviously there’s people who legitimately need to sit so I hesitate. That’s where the solution is safe standing really with with option of a seat elsewhere - but that requires safe standing being more than a little pocket.
