to be fair i just dont think emre looked interested v charlton. He's potential petrol but currently i dont think there's the spark to cause the petrol to burn and thus provide power.

If anything, their expectations are too low because theyve been around when the club was tiny and shiite, and their opinions should be ignored because theyre not in touch with modern football and the runnings of a successful modern football club, which has clearly moved on from just appointing your local manager and giving him money to spend. These people think its good to appoint managers like Dalglish and Roeder whilst the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are appointing your Wenger's and Benitez's - football has moved on, they havent. Of course, im just playing devils advocate here, I dont think anyone's opinion is more valid than the next since opinions, intelligence, perspective, expectations will all be different, but its easy to argue that other groups' opinions are less valid just to make your own opinion/agenda seem stronger. "Dalgliesh and Roeder". Kenny was a highly successful manager previously, you cant blame us for wanting him.
-
Personally I hate him because he's pathetic and immature. I don't hate Ferguson or Benetiez.
-
Duff has been rubbish. No argument about that, but i don't think you can fault his effort. That's why i find it so bewildering.
-
I said to give him the job in the summer. Who the hell else was there? And i wouldnt get rid of him, til we have someone lined up. I think CoachHTT may be right. I think i would keep roeder in the setup and bring in a manager if possible.

If you take the 'George supporters' as the origin of the word Geordie, people from Gateshead are not Geordies. Newcastle (Geordies) were a minority in the area, sandwiched between opposition in the north and south (Northumberland and Durham) - Gateshead came under Durham. Ant and Dec's History of Tyneside

I agree with a lot of what you're saying NJS, but not so much about having to have experienced the pre-keegan days. I was born in 1989, and i started following football as early as is realistically possible. I can't remember not going to newcastle games. I've been going to games since i was 5, and away games since i was 6 and i can't comprehend anybody feeling more joy or sorrow from Newcastle United than i do. If anything, you could say it is worse for my generation. My standards are naturally much higher. A few years older than me, and you've experienced much worse - relegation and the like. The first 2 seasons i remember properly we came 2nd in the premiership twice, and the next year we were in the champions league. Early memories that aren't so 'comprehensive' are of Beardsley and Cole banging them in, 'the entertainers'. You could say my disspointment threshold will be much higher. I'm not in anyway saying that i have more right to whinge etc. than older fans, but i'm saying i don't think they have more right than me.

what are you talking about? I didn't see a dive. Definite penalty. Was it s****, minimal contact, went down like a sack of s****, or are you a member of the "lets turn football into a non-contact sport" brigade. Or maybe I've just been whooshed? Agree! Carvalho did get the ball.... you talking about chealsea spurs or boro Man U? I'm talking about ronaldo's penalty...which was most definetly a foul. It clearly wasn't though, I don't class clipping someones foot as a foul, a foul is a challenge that is deemed to endanger the opposition, did you think Ronaldo was in danger. No, because he saw the opportunity to go down like a tosser, good to see people have gone so soft in the modern era of the game... 'Endanger' ? It's not about danger, ot's about stopping the player illegally. Handball isnt endangering anybody. He clips Ronaldo's knee. I hate him, but it was a penalty.

Was rightly a pen. And absolute disgrace by Morrison. Worthy of more than a 3 match ban.

I don't think Yankee means "resign". I think he means go for it, but accept we may be midtable for a few seasons while we build from the foundations - be patient, don't think it's failing because we're midtable for a couple of years.
-
I wouldn't be willing to give up my season ticket. But if there was a mass boycott for one game, that i was confident would occur en masse, i would participate
-
Bless I feel a bit guilty for beating you 5-0 here now
-
I probably agree with the original poster. Though i think it's a bit extreme, and there's no reason why we have to take a big dive. Don't get too mad if we finish like 12th, but i think any even half decent team can be looking at like 8th. The frustrating thing is letting gems like owen go, who we did so well to get. I think the best would be to tell them the plan, they stay for a year or 2, and if they think we'll succeed in our goal, they may stay.
-
That's what was pathetic about the shepherd out protests. What was the point if you only do it one week, after a bad defeat, then stop when we're winning. Just looks like an idiotic kneejerk reaction. If youre going to do it, do it after every game. Win or lose.

I like him. He links up really well and i certainly dont think he can picked out as one of the worse players He's only starting cos we're down to the bare bones upfront - he's essentially a squad player. Yes, he has been dreadful recently, exactly the same as just about every other player.
-
I ag Niothing worse than "fans" of more than one club. tut tut.... i know, they make me tut as well. Whats wrong with them then? Its fundamentally wrong. I agree. But nothing wrong with what breda are doing. Took a liking to us, and hate az, so they support us v az. I nearly (and wish i did) went to the Palace mackems play off game at SoL in the palace end.
-
Hah? Appalling !!? Then what are the words you use to describe Newcastle's performance? I won't deny many of the players are not premiership class but amateur? Or are you simply being sarcastic? Rubbish sometimes. But you can nearly always tell they've actually got something. They're just not being creative etc. These guys actually looked unable to kick a ball properly. Stoke were probably worse, but neither were good.
-
Bollocks. Them and stoke were both appalling. I can forgive a dead, boring game but this was just amateur ability. Embarrassing and reminded my how bad the championship is.
-
Good luck to the guy. No reason he can't do well. He may've done crap here, but i still think he's a good guy and wish him luck.
-
Taylor hasn't got pace? I'd say that's one of his strengths. Did you see him tear back when az were through? I think he has a lot of raw talent, but needs some coaching, as his positional play is often poor.
-
How unlucky would it be for him to only play 10 games, get injured for the season, then get injured again for a year before playing for us again?!
-
I'm a bit dissipointed actually. I'd have been pleased before, but the pen was harsh, and then to save it twice I reckon we should get a goal there though, theyre not up to much defensively.
-
Were you saying that about bobby in his first 2 seasons? A couple of points that would counter your argument: - We're 11th in the league, six points of 6th, in no danger of relegation, and for the most part of this season we've had between 10 and 16 first team players injured. - His signings have been good. Martins = Class, Duff = Underperforming but still good, Sibi = Decent back up, Gooch = First few games have been very good considering he's come into a far superior league. Bernard = Fair enough. - You could also argue that our squad would never have been good enough to get near the UEFA places anyway, and it's our expectations that are marginally too high. Are you serious? You think those points counter the argument that Roeder isn't good enough? We're 11th? Well that's brilliant. His signings have been good? Martins looks decent, Duff has been s**** but I'm hopeful he will come good, Sibierski he got unbelievably lucky with (considering he hadn't even thought about signing him til gone teatime on deadline day) and Bernard has been a f****** joke. We'll see about Gooch. The transfer windows under Roeder to date have been total abortions. We aren't good enough for UEFA spots? Expectations successfully lowered there then.
-
He was there?! I was at it, and i'd just been saying you'd think you'd see footy players at these gigs sometimes, 'specially big bands at small venues. Whereabouts was he?
-
Slight boos i think. That's how it was at the riverside. Didn't see anything +ve, but he wasn't really heavily booed. He was on front of the programme though and i saw one ripped up.
