It's more the quality we seem to be signing. Seem to have wasted 250m. Agree don't need champions league to build but need to get smarter at players that improve our system. Going after these 55 million or above average players or 40m on Ramsey, Gordon, Barnes. I get there's a premium to pay but need to evolve and be looking more oversees. Just look at the Brentford, Brighton, Bournemouth of the world, they have more quality in attack than we do at fraction of the price. I know they don't go very far and not saying we don't need to splash out but can build a competent and competitive squad for cheaper than we spent in the summer where 1 player - Thiaw has been a success

Agree but think we need a beast/aggressive defensive mid that sits and a creative player on front 3 or change formation as it's just not working most the time. The way we play makes it easy for teams. I didn't think Villa were good today, I think we made them look good and we simply can't cut through teams. It relies on wingers that can't cross and strikers who are never there.

Woltemade just looks lost in our system, he's not fast and in terms of reactions not fast so need to play different with him. Needs more technical players to play with him, Willock just can't stay fit and lacks quality to impact a game as a sub anyway.

Or go get a simple athletic defensive mid and put Tonali and Bruno either side. Someone that just sits and covers defence, again surely a decent one that can compliment that midfield for 20 million or less, look at other teams

Gordon is the worst of the lot, been here a number of seasons, gone so far backward and doesn't bother attacking much. Would rather he ran them into the corner constantly and kept practicing cutting in/crossing. I don't even think he's a left winger as he's garbage 90% of the time and gets no space and not versatile or technically skilled enough to toy with teams. He's fast and that's about it. Wissa I will forgive as probably getting fitness and sharpness back that's needed for a striker but Gordon has had the whole season. I would sell him personally. In terms of transfers I don't think we need to spend 50 million on another player that doesn't work for us, surely can pickup a full back, winger for 20-30 million that technically improves us.

Might be best swapping him for Ramsey or Willock more for going forward, need to get back in the game and something a bit different. Would have him and Elanga on for Gordon and Joe at half time

Wingers and striker just not contributing or missing in action to take control and create something. When it does get to them they look clueless and can't keep it or work into the box enough. Midfield 3 doing fine as are the defence bar Trips. Our front 3 just don't cause enough issues at all.

That front 3 just have to be better, we are getting forward but they won't do much with it
