Nigel Adkins sacked. Mauricio Pochettino appointed new Southampton manager
nufc4eva replied to Fenham Mag's topic in Football
This is the kind of thing which worries me about Pardew going. Unless we got someone who knew the league and how to hit the ground running then we might have missed our chance to sack him. I'd be gutted if Pardew went on Monday and we appointed whoever this is, for example. I would happily see Pardew go if it was Martinez or someone with a good reputation. If Martinez then I think would be worthwhile even in this mess -
Yip, the fact we took the league by storm under Keegan was the best thing I have seen in supporting us. We were a fantastic team to watch

Cool, looks like we may have a way out of this relegation battle. Truly bizarre decision like -
How's he doing with Swindon, what approach to football does he have? Not a bad shout on at least he would fight
-
Definitely, if we lose then the fans will turn in a big way I feel. Patience is running out and the board don't seem to be anything to change that A signing that would excite fans could have made it so different. If we start playing hoof ball from the off then the fans will turn quickly I reckon and the Manager/Board have brought it on themselves
-
I think it was alright. There's clearly potential and even if he fails to fulfill it at least it was worth a try for the price. He's fucking terrible as will Ngog be - tragic
-
All this controversy etc is not going to help us stay up, always a fucking drama
-
The importance placed on every little quote is absolutely insane. It's bordering on obsession. So he might have said '3 or 4', now he says '1 or 2', it's not like his answers to every single question actually affect NUFC transfer policy. Everyone needs to grow up. It's more a deep concern that we cannot seem to get bodies through the door, we need players in the right areas not a random left back or attacking midfielder we need players up front and in centre defence, and it needs to be players that can shore us up rather than be world beaters at this point
-
If that 1 or 2 aren't at least a Centre Back we are screwed. We need at least 2 not 1 or 2, we have lost 3 fucking strikers since May and not brought 1 in. We are leaking goals left right and centre and need a Centre Half. Honestly man I would fucking settle for a reasonably competent player up front until the summer that isn't Shola.
-
So that would be the 2 or 3 he was saying from the start? It was actually up to 3 or 4 last week, now 1 or 2 and soon it will be a player back from injury and 1 signing. Then before you know it we are into "we tried" territory. Familiar feel, gutted to see this club being run in such a way. No clear approach never seem to get where we want to. We make everything seem much harder than other clubs and it shouldn't be. If we can't get the "A" players then maybe we need to adapt and adjust and bring in gap fillers on short term loan / contracts. Why can't we sign the odd 29 year old on a 2 year deal - fine no resale value but fuck me the money you lose by going into the championship next year and not bouncing back will be astronomical. Ashley is a business man and it's all about managing risk, if the risk of going down is high and has a high financial implication then try and fucking mitigate it
-
I would snap their hands off for £25m personally, he's good but not 25 million good, lot of cash for a keeper
-
Heard this too. Apparently he found out Fernandes was "a really nice guy" after playing him at FIFA. Sounds like a total nutjob tbh. Llambas is such a cunt, what type of man is no good at FIFA ffs, where does he do his scouting
-
Not good enough tbh. Everything seems to have gone rather quite, either scratching their heads or secret signing coming up
-
At this point I would settle for a 100% improvement on Shola which should not be to hard to achieve
-
At the end of the day though that's his own stupid fucking fault, he should just man up and deal with it. Not run away from it.
-
Will happen whether game is on or not anyway
-
Is there anyway we can just provide a stickied summary of the top 10 active threads and the transfer rumours one can just say "fuck all is happening" ?
-
How do you know they arent working on other areas? You only know about this one because Nancy did a Redknapp. Just not convinced we are, will be a nightmare if we have to spend rest of season with Williamson and I truly believe that Pardew thinks we need cover for him rather than replacing him
-
May be a decent player but is in the wrong fucking position, they need a centre back a.s.a.p. I can't believe we would target these areas without replacing Williamson first tbh
-
1st of January was our cut off for signing anyone apart from Right Back, we will no doubt be short in the areas we need it most come 1st Feb. It worries me that we don't appear to have a first choice CB on radar
-
I think mass suicide is a real possibility after today, maybe we should discuss best way to do it
-
Looking like Gomis is a strong possibility. Lyon seem desperate to free up some money with a significant transfer. We shall see. Be delighted with Gomis tbh, but still need someone capable of playing out wide, he doesnt. On the flipside some more crap from the tabloids seeing us linked to a LB and GK and jumping to conclusions.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2263053/AC-Milan-launch-10m-bid-sign-Newcastle-goalkeeper-Tim-Krul.html http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/ac-milan-interested-in-newcastle-keeper-1536159 Bit soon for the relegation firesale.. Oh yes i remember last time we sold a keeper, january of relegation season wasnt it ?
