I wouldn't read too much into that, Howe did that mostly with Hall as well plus Isak will be injured in a few games so he will get a fair few games.
-
Positive we get 200 million to buy Guehi
-
Positives - we haven't lost yet, kept Isak, Bruno, Gordon. Hall and Livramento hopefully progress this season, Tonali back and Kelly will hopefully be a decent player. Dummet and Ritchie can't play anymore and few promising younger players might get a chance. Less games this year so hopefully more of squad available. Negatives - centre backs are limited and hurt our play without Schar there, Right side of midfield/Right wing looks shit but Tonali will help, Few injuries away from being in trouble. Team looks short of ideas/ability to press or even hold onto the ball but early in season.

They probably aren't bothered if he goes for 40 next year, spent 30 million and brought in 90 million this window. Might mean more to them to keep him to stay in league and doesn't exactly seem itching to join us so could see him signing new deal.
-
Maybe just close this thread down and try again next summer ?
-
I would still back Howe to get the most out of the squad this season but clear limitations unless Isak/Gordon etc come into amazing form which is possible. Think 8th or 9th possibly lower will be out level as others like Brighton and West Ham look to have strengthened. We really need a better model in place to bring younger under radar players in and getting academy players through and not just banking on one 70 million player, there are others that could maybe have done a job and improvement on what we have now. I get the hype around Guehi and I wanted him but we should have had alternatives that improve squad as a whole. Surely 30 million on a centre back and a right winger would have helped overall given our lack of quality in those positions right now.
-
Can't think there's any reason to have not strengthened at all in 2 windows. Plenty of players that could improve us for a fraction of 70 million. If they don't get it done they look pretty stupid for fixating on him all summer. Should have switched targets ages ago. Maintain we will be lucky to get top 10 if have Burn, Krafth and Schar until Jan as hurts our ability to play out and results in more turnover of play with us launching ball (without Wilson there). Also makes our midfield innefective with Krafth and Burn in there due to how slow they move the ball and pressure it brings on.
-
It just doesn't seem right at all, I know could change but we look a shadow of the team that finished 4th
-
This is half the problem, look more comfortable with Schar at least in there and his range of passing means we can counter. Just too much space when teams come at us
-
Be lucky to finish 10th if we can't sort it out as haven't played any of the top 6 or 7 in league yet.
-
Every team we seem to.play are quicker, retain ball better, more aggressive and press with purpose. We look lethargic and no ideas most the time. Need to try and get a hold of games more, started well in this but then dropping too far back again.
-
That didn't take long for Willock to be knackered ffs
-
I could see Isak being sold next year, stock still very high, 25, maximum PSR profit potentially. Would be 80 million pure profit if goes for 100?
-
Well sounded like that đŸ¤£ I loved him as a player, just thought we were in desperate territory. Wouldn't mind seeing if Osula can play from there
-
He's 37 and barely played for 3 years. Doubt he would be better than Almiron or Murphy. We really need a young prospect to have as an option there. I guess if we sign Guehi and with Tonali back and our other players we are still a very strong team that will be too much for teams when in our stride so may be able to get away without a new RW given our other options.
-
I think it's 40% of whatever Peterborough get so they may get say 10% and we will get a few million from it ?
-
Not sure what's happened to our pressing game but not hunting in packs as much anymore. Did it for a bit yesterday but dropped off quickly and invited pressure on us. I guess good news that we haven't lost the first 2 so scraping by when playing shit but need to get back to being relentless in pressing. Barely attacked for large parts of yesterday's game and when we did get the ball back just kept giving it away with sloppy passes. Hopefully Tonali makes a difference and get at least 1 or 2 players in. Think we miss Botman and Schar at back as well as their passing range is immense compared to Krafu and Burn.
-
Agree with that, they are the only 2 that have that ability. To be a top team we are going to need a mix of technical and physical. Hoping Tonali comes good and we can get some players in this week. A couple of tricky/technical midfield or attacking players would help. If they don't come in we have to play Gordon and Barnes every game.
-
We have to find a way of moving the ball quicker, at times would get to one of our players and Bournemouth had time to reorganise. We move it far too slow. Also our technical ability is shocking, misplaced passes, no mobility, struggling to know what to do with the ball. Bournemouth moved the ball well and worked space much better
-
No energy, shit passing, can't keep ball for longer than 5 seconds. We look so far from a top 6 team right now
-
Drags us through games when needs to, passion to win, right man for the job and such a top professional
-
Man U still look like they will struggle against a team that gets at them, Fulham quite deep.
-
Not if we don't get a replacement for him. I would argue we need that defence to be strong even with injuries to succeed
-
No we don't, need to build the squad and team, if he helps us get champions league and keeps us right side of league then it pays for itself over time. We can't not pay for decent players just because of sell on alone. Need to look at total ROI. PSR important aspect but seems a worthwhile investment.
