  1. Well it's income tax and national insurance, so could be player wages. Most big earners will be using tax avoidance companies to handle their salaries. I imagine the footballers are no different.... paying large sums of money into overseas holding companies and paying themselves dividends rather than salaries. If Charney is implicated in assisting this sort of activity, maybe that could be part of the investigation.... (?) It is not actually illegal, more of a loophole but, depending on how it is conducted it could contravene some of the HMRC rules!
  2. Relating to 5M Quid of "fraud". In the world of football that is a minor oversight at worst. You are talking about 100's of Millions of Pounds in transactions taking place. We probably didn't pay enough VAT on the pies sold at half time or something!

I saw that and thought that just about sums him up as a human being.....
  4. The Premier League is so different to the Championship in terms of physicality, Mitro seems to thrive on the physical side of the game, he wont get much love from Premier League referees, like he didn't in the short time he played with us in the Premier League during last season. Players like Perez and Hayden will thrive in the Premier League though. Sadly, Mitro will need to be moved on as he will be a liability for us next season.
  5. I really like the Championship, it is really competitive and often throws up surprises. Generally the fans of other clubs are genuine and decent as well. I enjoyed the last time we were down more than this time, we had a far better team back then but, the determination this year and the doggedness that we have displayed to gain promotion at the first time of asking, again, has been enjoyable. Not many teams go down and gain promotion in consecutive seasons, look at the struggle that Norwich and Villa have endured to be mediocre in this league! I gave this season a 2 while I would have given the previous Championship season a solid 1.

We're not Americans. Yikes! I work for an American company and my keyboard / language settings are all US so that was an autocorrect I am afraid. haha

Is my math correct that if the mackems lose on Wednesday and Hull win on Saturday they are officially relegated? Or do Hull need to win 2 games? Not that there is much chance they will lose against Boro, they are equally rubbish!!

I would have to doubt that he would want another relegation but, it is likely that his investment would be the bare minimum to stay up each season.

I'm not sure our position will be as strong as you think given we've possibly made a large loss this season and next season will need huge reinvestment. Well the very least we can expect is a jump in broadcasting revenue from less than 1kk to in excess of 60kk. Our current, slightly favorable position is mostly due to the Sissoko, Wijnaldum and Townsend sales and the fact that we didn't reinvest all of that money. But, you are totally right... we have some serious money to spend if we are going to remain on the gravy train for a few seasons (hopefully permanently) to come.

Quite interesting. Puts into context the fact that Newcastle have still made a profit in the latest set of figures, albeit quite small and mostly thanks to the fact that our debt is interest free "thanks" to Mike Ashley. If/ when we are promoted at the end of this season our position will be very strong while Sunderland have some incredibly serious issues to deal with should they be finally relegated. Shame - snigger!
  11. I once had a seat there for a match and was in a front row, the railing completely obstructs any chance of a decent view. Seat was comfy though!

You would get 10p Well no.... Well they're hardly likely to survive are they? Hence you get 10p.... (red face....)
  14. Full PGMOL statement: "In this evening's EFL Championship game between Newcastle United and Burton Albion, referee Keith Stroud awarded Newcastle a penalty in the 29th minute. "As Matt Ritchie took the kick, Dwight Gayle encroached in the penalty area. "An indirect free kick was awarded to Burton, but the Laws of the Game state that the penalty kick should have been retaken. "Unfortunately the referee has misapplied the Law. "Keith and his team are understandably upset at the lapse in concentration and apologise for the mistake." Quoted from .com

That is quite nice. I go to the match with my dad who is in his late 70's and also my 11 year old son.... Nice sentiment in their advert.

Them going down as bottom club would be fairly sweet though....
  19. Would happily take a point right now. Game could still easily go either way. We look ok when going forward but, awful in defence.
  20. Loving Rob Lee referring to Newcastle as 'we'. Still loves the Toon.

  22. Think the East Stand was £639 for new season ticket holders for this season. Obviously people on various different deals paying different amounts. Yup, that is about how much for a seat in the East Stand, generally a good view but, really crappy facilities, huge queues at the bars at half time, stinking old toilets and an absolute nightmare to get in and out before and after the game. You would think, due to the fact that a lot of East Stand Dwellers have been going to the match forever that they would have figured out a decent queuing system to get in - instead all you get is a huge gathering with people not sure where each queue starts or ends... then people get all anxious when, by complete accident, you stand in front of them. And I have no idea where they all come from when it comes to getting out. I am about 2/3 way back the east stand and I can wait for several minutes before I can even start to move towards the exits due to people coming from the few rows behind me. This is not such a big deal to be fair but, I am just constantly amused at how long it can take to get cracking at the full time whistle.
  23. If anyone has no connection to any of the other teams listed I would love it if you would all vote for Felling Magpies. This is my lads teams. They would benefit from the money along with 2 other groups from the same club. 1000 quid buys a lot of stuff for a grassroots football team!
