The club really has to sort this.
-
You've got to laugh. Right?
-
All I can assume is that we always thought we would get it done. I don't see how anyone can say otherwise since nobody has a clue what has happened. You can't say we should have pulled out earlier just because it didn't happen.
-
Assuming no injury crisis it’s at least as strong as the team that finished 4th, isn’t it?
-
I agree, I wasn’t arguing that it’s a good window. Clearly it isn’t (at the moment).
-
Yeah it looks like it has failed, that’s clear. But we don’t know much beyond that.
-
It just doesn’t make sense to me that people expect every problem to have been sorted. I don’t think any squad in the league has no weaknesses, except maybe Man City. We were in diabolical shape. Of course we should improve every year and it’s a shame if we don’t.
-
Not very long in transfer planning. The plans for this window would’ve been in place well before Mitchell arrived, I would imagine.
-
I wish you had any evidence for this. Even if there is a change in the organisation and a difference in approaches, they’re both professionals and I would hope it’ll be resolved and come up with a joint shortlist for the future. That’s how most clubs work.
-
It’s always been the top priority since the takeover?
-
In previous windows we had other priorities, other targets and made other signings. We’re rebuilding a club and squad that was run on a shoestring for 15 years. It’s a disappointing window and admittedly I don’t understand what went on. But it’s not toys out of the pram territory.
-
I won for this, wife didn’t. So total of 1 out of 6.
-
Yeah but again, only because it looks like not happening. If we pursue him and get the singing it looks OK. Of course you could argue we should have moved on weeks ago no matter what, but I find that hard to argue for without knowing the inside details of the negotiation.

Paul Mitchell to leave club by mutual consent at end of June (Official)

We can't judge him on this summer, albeit it would have been nice if he was a Parish-whisperer and could have done the Guehi deal. But we don't have a clue whose fault that is. -

I wouldn't expect any of those to go to PL clubs, except maybe Targett. So you have to find clubs from another league that will pay money, can afford the wages and the players want to go there. Also selling Miggy depends on signing another RW, so I guess that couldn't happen if we were spending all the money on Guehi. I'm sure if wanted to give them all away for free and subsidise their wages we could get them to leave, but I guess we can't do that. -
I'd be annoyed/confused if we don't improve the team like, no doubt. But it won't lead me to question the future of the club or owt. It's completely different to under Ashley.
-
I mean, it depends doesn't it? We might have thought it was going to happen.
-
I don't think he's a bad player from what I've seen for Chelsea, neither is Chalobah. Not in the "position sorted for a decade" bracket though maybe.
-
Absolutely agree. The point is whether we want to progress, not if we ever make a mistake. I expect us to have a significantly better season than last year. Sure, it won't be because of transfer activity (and it could have been better) but I still expect it to be in the top 3 seasons for the last 15+ years. Hopefully once the new regime is bedded in we'll see much smarter transfer dealing again.
-
It's mad by Palace though. Starve yourself of a massive payday for the sake of a few months of a player who you publicly put on the market.
-
I mean rating a window in which we don’t make any meaningful improvement is always going to be tricky. I was assuming we’d get at least Guehi in.
-
It’ll be a positive for us
-
Not selling Miggy is a positive though, if we're not signing a RW.
-
Our owners would have no reason or interest in pulling the 'we tried' thing.
