He was noticeably getting more tackles in for sure, and being more active in engaging opponents rather than just standing in front of them.

I guess for a lot of people the most memorable part of the game was the most negative part, where we made loads of mistakes and nearly fell apart. But the whole game wasn’t like that. The possession thing is really tricky to judge. I would love a more possession-based team, but I know it's not Howe's main focus. That said, a lot of the time we lose the ball it's just an individual mistake from a player who is not very good technically, so those ones aren't tactical.

The first time passes are a deception as well... you give the ball quickly a few times, then when they start expecting it and not closing you down you can take touches and get turned.

Johnson was their best player when he came on IMO, but don’t know enough to say why he isn’t starting. Odobert looks miles away from ready for the PL.

Even at Chelsea it was clear he couldn’t operate at this level. Baffling signing by Spurs. I’d actually forgotten he was there until he came on yesterday.
