  1. Carr was shite for us, but I've got respect for the way he's obviously worked really hard on his fitness and conditioning to prolong his career. Respect that.

    Alan Pardew

The fact we're not all agreeing he's been a total disaster shows how well things have turned out compared to expectations.
  3. Saha played today and was very good. Not that that means he isn't likely to randomly get injured within the next week. Ah right, I always lose track so I just assume he's injured. Should be a good game, and tight too.

    Alan Pardew

Interesting post Pink77, I don't really know the details of Pardew's career. I've spoken to fans of a few clubs who rate him fairly highly though.
  5. He's a leader and he has scored some important goals for us. That is enough to keep him in the team at the moment, but as a footballer he is very limited. I've never rated him, and I think his physical condition lets him down, but I've been forced to admit that he's very important to us at the moment. A team is more than just a collection of the best individuals, and at the moment Nolan is a part of our team. Also, we don't have any decent alternatives.
  6. We should be better suited to playing them than Bolton really, now Pienaar has gone and if Saha is out. Three points would be immense, but I'd settle for one.

Welcome back mate, was sorry to see you go!
  8. Yeah, it's a fine art, and obviously if you have the acceleration of Messi you don't need as much of a head start to get in. Offsides like Best's today, where one foot happens to be ahead of the defender, I just don't have a problem with. A lot of the time they won't be spotted and you'll score. When the margin is as tight as that a lot of it is luck. Yes, he could be a better player and always bend his runs exactly right though, can't argue with that.

    Ryan Taylor

Two footed challenges are pathetic and anyone doing them regularly should really be banned from the game. Well I agree, but in Taylor's case I don't think it was malicious. Stupid, yes, but in the heat of the game he was just trying to win the ball back. Obviously in the event he let his team down by getting sent off, but I don't think he deserves to be strung up for it.
  10. Well they were correct, whether they were 'cast iron' I'm not sure. I never get annoyed at forwards for being offside really, unless it's a really obvious one. Playing on the edge of offside is how you give yourself a chance of getting in on goal.
  11. I wouldn't be against giving him 3 years, it doesn't really matter. But TBF he has only been good for us for a small percentage of the time we've been paying his wages, so you could equally argue that he should be grateful for whatever he's offered.

I see what you did there.
  13. Martinez on the BBC website talking about Rooney's antics. And Whelan defending him. Hopefully MOTD won't be able to avoid showing it. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/wigan_athletic/9408517.stm http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9408535.stm
  14. The one where Best was shoved over was only very very marginally offside. It was technically correct, but only by a couple of inches.

    Keep going, this is gold.
  16. Not Enrique's best game today but still pretty awesome. Wish Ranger's goal had counted, that would have been the best asset ever.
  17. When Jonas sees how the subs affected the game I'd hope he'll accept they were correct. Anyway, nobody likes being brought off, good to see players being a bit disappointed.
  18. In six and a half years he can do what he wants.

    Ryan Taylor

See it all the time, a miscontrol followed by a lunge in to make amends and win the ball back. It's how we bring people up to play in this country... obviously still stupid. Thought he did alright before that though, he's not satan.
  20. Should have wrapped it up in the first half, but then would could easily have lost it after the red card. Good moves by Pardew, Ranger must be knocking hard on the door for a starting spot IMO.
  21. Enrique skinned two defenders, went back, skinned them both again then floated it into the box for Ranger to head home. But ruled out for offside.
