Sweet.

Got to say the call to introduce technology. It's a game, people make mistakes, accept it.
-
He's right though, isn't he? Just because he can't get his own defenders to follow his instructions, doesn't mean he can't identify bad defending when he sees it.
-
Strange thing for him to say, to me he looks as sharp as ever. I always had him down for a Giggs-style never ending career.
-
This is a very weird story, but I always rated him fairly highly. Think he deserves a go back in England.

You lose most heat through your extremities, ie hands, feet and head, therefore it doesn't really make much difference what length sleeve you wear since you don't lose much body heat through your forearms I always thought you lost most heat through your head (etc), because everywhere else was normally covered. Am I an idiot?

You're completely right, I've been saying all along that this isn't inevitable and a line must be drawn here. We should do everything we can to avoid setting this precident.

Sam Allardyce is one for me as well, not many human beings I actually physically hate - but he's one.

This thread makes me think there's more that I hate about football than things I like. I could easily add another 10.

Ignorant pundits who comment on players based on their reputations rather than their real abilities. Diving. Players crowding the referee and whinging like little girls. Screaming in pain when tackled. Fergie. People calling for the introduction of technology. Beckham haters.

Racist. It was him. I only doubted it because he was dressed really casually, I only ever see footballers on nights out!

Jose Enrique out for at least three weeks with hamstring injury

I know as I'm typing this it's very optomistic, but I just hope that the regime realise how critical it is for us to go up this season... so no more players must be sold. £5m gained on selling Enrique could easily turn into tens of millions lost, even over the next season or two. -

I don't 'expect' him to go in january, but it's a terrifying possibility. I really want him to stay, since he didn't jump ship in the summer I think there's a good chance he might see out the season to find out if we go up. For some reason a lot of pundits don't seem to rate him... from what I've heard anyway. -
I think for a young player, unproven in the premiership, that would be a bit cheeky TBH. Not that it will be an issue, we won't buy anyone else.
-
He would be a good signing for not much money, any decent player we can get relatively cheap is a good thing at the moment.
-
Would be really interesting to see if a ref gets the same abuse if he's a respected ex-player. I don't think he would.
-
I really rate Dave Kitson, used to watch him a lot at Reading. He's a bit like a bargain basement Crouch, he's decent in the air and on the ground. He hasn't set the premiership alight though, I know. I think he'd do well in a decent team though.

Aye it made me sick when the Honey Monster was polaying in B&W stripes with KK as manager in the mid nineties. The comercialisation of the club has been going on long before Ashley took over, and the naming rights is just the latest step down that road. (not that I like or agree with btw, but it was inevitable at some point) I don't agree, I know what you're saying but a line has to be drawn somewhere. It's not as easy as just saying it's part of commercialisation of football, or it's inevitavble. Otherwise we should just admit that football has no meaning or importance beyond the profit and loss account. If that's the case then you'd be just as well off supporting John Lewis plc. When that happens the game will stop really meaning anything... then we've destroyed just what we were trying to build. We already have tbh. Football is eating itself thanks to the exposion of the Premier League. Its now too cash driven and as only a cousin of the pre 92 game. Video evidence is another step down this road, decisions now cost millions so they have be correct. Rubbish I say! Mistakes are part and parcel of what makes (made) football great. Its now a product, and as such has to be QC tested. Marketing is the most important part of modern football, and with that comes the inevitable commercialisation of history/tradition. Personally I hate it, and would love for the money 4 to f*** off to a European Super Soccer League complete with blue and red Pepsi grass, 4 quarters brought to you by Budweiser and commentators called Brad and Brad. Then we can rebuild football as it is supossed to be. Jumpers for goalposts, isn't it, wasn't it? Marvellous! I remember the days! FWIW, what I mean is that it isn't a case of accepting all commercialisation or none of it. Everything you say is right about the money and business-focus that has come in (and you're right about the refereeing as well), but I don't think that means that there isn't anything that should be protected. I just think selling the naming rights to a century old stadium is too much.

This may evetually happen more widely, even though it makes me sick to see it, but we do not want to be the ones to set the precident. Moat can fuck off, and so can anyone else who wants to sell the heritage of the club.

I would vote for Rio as well, personally. Class act when he was in form... no reason he can't do it again.
-
I don't understand when people say they're not bothered about England. It's the only decent team I get to support FFS. The friendlies are pretty meaningless, but in general I really like watching England play.
-
I know it's all relative, and it's a bit silly to say he should be happy just because he's a footballer... but it does show a staggering lack of perspective, which is surprising considering it wasn't that long ago he achieved success.
-
Aye, it's awesome. I'm sure the new one will be interesting, I don't know that much about his early career, but for pure Bobby time that BBC one is perfect.

I bought the 'Just Call me Bobby' DVD a while ago, and it was absolutely brilliant. I think it was even better because it was a while before his death, therefore not a rose-tinted tribute but a genuine picture of the man. Just spending time listening to him going about his job is the best way to remember him IMO.
