Teams that don't respect the poppy appeal?
AyeDubbleYoo replied to wrightstuff83's topic in Football
When did they become expected to respect it? Have clubs always worn poppies on the shirts and had minutes silences? -
What do you hate most about being in the Championship?

Plus there is very little to talk about because the football is awful.... think that's why they read out texts on the FLS. -

I'm annoyed at how shit most of the teams are, it's almost insulting that we're top of the league and as bad as we are. I actually hate them for not beating us... weird. -

That people can now say to us things like "that Kevin Nolan's a decent player" and we look like idiots when we say he's shit. -

I know, no need to be so logical though man! -

It's mental this, seems no football body has the power to enforce any of its rules. -
Nah, seriously though, you're right.

Make the most of it, if we go up we'll disappear off the TV for another season.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/chrisbevan/2009/11/gateshead_talk_of_the_tyne.html Great to see some progress for the heed, not doing great in the league this season but some real long-term plans are being put down. Can't wait to see the new stadium as well. My uncle was a season ticket holder all his life, and he'd have loved to have seen this.

I thought it usually took until the age of 40 to get totally disillusioned with football, but it's in real danger of happening to me now... at the tender age of 27. If clubs start renaming their stadiums after products, diving continues to ruin the game, managers continue abusing referees... sometimes just wonder what's the point.

Royal mint 'cash in on Sir Bobby', surely?

It would depend if you thought football clubs are sufficiently different to other companies to make this feasable. I mean, why not make Cadbury's 25% owned by people who buy their chocolate? Also difficult as clubs are becoming less and less public companies, shares often aren't even for sale in the normal sense. Also, fans might not identify with a supporter's trust in any way. For example, I think a lot of what NUSC have done in the past is idiotic, I wouldn't want them to speak for me in the running of the club.

Who would be stupid enough to buy Manchester United or Chelsea?

"Identity is the basis of everything in football" Can we have that tatooed on Mike Ashley's face? -

The toothpaste's out of the tube now though, it'll be nigh on impossible to impose caps (if there even was a will to do it, which there probably isn't). -
Sorry man, you literally couldn't make it up.

Depression is the main emotion I feel TBH. It's like the club we love has been infested by something disgusting that is destroying it from the inside, and we can only watch it crumble. At least when the club was up for sale there was some up that someone would come in and manage us properly.
-
Nothing on the official site about this, maybe they're hoping some of the fans haven't heard about it yet.
-
Lonsdale, diadora or someone like that. As longas the sponsor is Sports Direct, I'm happy.
-
Well at least something positive has come out of this mess.
-
I can just imagine the fat c*** has used the clubs money to pay SportsDirect for the use of their name in this arse about face plan. Rape this club and 50,000 fans everyweek to keep his company afloat. If my telly wasn't so expensive i would have put my foot through it earlier when Lyingarse was on Think that might going too far even for Ashley, paying someone to sponsor you is beyond even him.

Is boycotting ultimately the only way to force Ashley out eventually?
AyeDubbleYoo replied to a topic in Football
:idiot2: who pays 100m for a club that's in the championship and is losing 20m a season, with a very high wage bill when you could pick-up a club like west brom or boro for around 30M Could you? If that's the case then obviously I'm a mong. It wouldn't be the first time I'd been massively wrong. Think one mental smilie would have done mind! Stand by the fact that we have the potential to be worth around £400m, with a bit of good management and some decent progress on the pitch. -
My brother just texted me saying "They're as good as dead"! I told him not to put that stuff down in writing, it could come out in the court case.

I'm honestly not sure why someone hasn't stumped up the money for the club... I would have thought £100m was an absolute bargain. I thought we would be one of the easiest clubs in the country to sell at that price. From my (biased I admit) point of view I'd have thought we were a business valued without regard to future potential and with a large captive customer base.
