  1. I hate this, but bearing in mind the club's situation and the economy it would be madness to sell us now for a reduced price. I hoped he would do it, but I'm not surprised he isn't.
  2. Dunno, suppose it would very much depend on the owner and especially the new manager. Well I hope any new owner would think having Hughton as your long term manager is a good idea, if so Ashley mkII Yeah, I didn't really mean that... I just meant he might appoint a new manager who wants all his own coaching staff... or he might want a total clean sweep. I'd hope there would be a place for CH though, he's done a service to the club.

  4. I wouldn't be surprised if Hughton is putting a bit of pressure on to be given some more security. Whatever happens he'll be dumped when the club is sold, so I can see why he would want to make it financially beneficial for himself when he's sacked.
  5. As in 'great pass Garry' or 'nice shot Garry'.
  6. The things human beings can do to eachother defies belief sometimes. :-[
  7. Power to you if you're totally happy with everything that is going on Edit : We wont win the league Nah, I'm not totally happy about what's going on... especially off the pitch. But on it we're top of the league after not playing great, considering what we were expecting this season it has got to be a great position to be in. Also, funny how people who were logging on to say this season will be a disaster and we might get relegated again can now complain because we're only just top. We don't have good players, so to expect good performances is a bit mad IMO. Results are all that matters at the moment, nothing more will happen until the club is sold and we can rebuild.
  8. Are we the only fans capable of whinging all the way to a league title? Will be interesting to find out.
  9. We've tasted the real highs in the last few years... it's going to be difficult to get our perspective back. Beating Barcalona in the Champions League to losing to Scunthorpe in the Championship is a long journey in a very short time.
  10. We don't have the personnel in the squad to score at a lot of goals... we just need to make sure we never concede more than 1 a game. Without Colo and Taylor we're bound to struggle.
  11. I don't think it really matters which of our average forwards we play. Nobody in our team looks dangerous in attack... Shola is the best, that's saying something. With our pedestrian midfield I'm starting to think that we need 5 across the middle. So I would play Ranger as a lone striker at the moment.
  12. Sometimes we have to accept things we can't change. We don't have to like it, but we have to face the reality of the situation... enjoy the match, support the team and hope the club is sold as soon as possible - that's the lot of toon fans at the moment.
  13. I agree with the basic point, the forum does attract the knee-jerk reactions and the fickle opinions. I suppose it's bound to though, it's an outlet for peoples' frustrations. Even at St James's people are ridiculously fickle, and players get abused for the slightest mistake... it annoys me something rotton when everyone around me is shouting 'you useless bastard' for a misplaced pass or a very minor error. We seem to think we should just be able to walk over teams, and football isn't like that for anyone.
  14. I remember seeing Shola in there before munching down a chicken. Before the Chelsea home game last season the entire Ameobi family was in there, nobody cared. How did you know they were all his family? Check their passports? Because they were black? Racist To be fair, when I see a white man and women dining with children, I usually assume they're family as well...
  15. To be really fair, Kevin Nolan is shit and needs to spend a lot more time in the gym and a lot less in the pub.
  16. To revisit the last page, I don't mind players going out on the town. If I had their money I would certainly do it. Only caveats would be; Not if you've just lost (common sense I would have thought). Not if you're unfit/fat (Kevin Nolan).
  17. Are Ashley and the club now open to a libel or defamation of character action from Keegan? The tribunal seem pretty sure that everything they said about KK was completely made up.
  18. Surely our income from other sources has fallen so much that we'll still need to sell players even if SJP is full every week? We were in dire financial poop even in the premiership.
  19. Spot on, we're never likely to score many goals with our terrible midfield and impotent strikeforce... keeping clean sheets is absolutely essential for us. Without Taylor and Colo we are up s*** creek.
  20. It's a strange decision on the surface but you could argue it's better to change your manager when things are relatively stable rather than during a real downturn. Suggests some sort of planning rather than knee jerk reaction, maybe.
  21. We are completely a confidence team, a lot of our players need to be buzzing and at 100% to do anything of note on a football pitch. Not such a worrying result in itself, these things happen. But very worrying if we go another couple of games without a win. Needless to say, we miss Taylor a lot, he's the only real leader in the squad.
  22. Saw Nolan and R Taylor out on Collingwood St last night. Fucking cheek, don't know why they can't save their nights out for after victories.
  23. Aren't sprinters usually considerably below 6 foot? I thought that Usain Bolt was unusual for just that reason - tall people are generally slower.
  24. I wonder whether the fans want it? Will the Scots want to leave behind their inferior football and come and be mid-table in England?
