I think this as well, it's been a weird season - nobody outside the top 3 has been consistently good this year, even Chelsea have had dodgy periods.
-
You honestly think anyone will be fighting to stay and play in the Championship if Premiership clubs come in for them?

A plea to all those going down to Villa...............
AyeDubbleYoo replied to pedro111's topic in Football
Couldn't care less about how anyone reports or reacts if we do get relegated. The fact of the matter will be so horrible they won't be able to make it any worse by taking the piss. -
Beye, S Taylor, Bassong would probably be leaving I imagine.

Aston Villa v Newcastle - 24/05/09 - Pre-match thread

Aye, but to be fair the last game of the season is usually meaningless for us... this one is anything but. -
Which Premier League manager WOULDN'T have walked after two (mediocre at very best) players were signed without his say-so? Well I don't want to get into this whole debate again, all I'll say is that we don't know what actually happened.
-
I almost don't want to post this, as I know we have enough threads debating Ashley, but just to say he is to blame is far too simplistic. Yes, he could have prevented this situation if he had wanted/managed to find a proper manager after KK left... but then again if Keegan hadn't walked out and the fans hadn't thrown their toys out of the pram none of that would have been required anyway. There are far too many variables and possible things that did and didn't happen to try to blame anyone. Let's just hope Ashley gets a chance to put things right in the Premiership.

fine, fine point this like we slate so many players yet it's patently obvious that they don't get a shred of quality training in our first team - i always thought this of steven taylor; when he broke into the first team he was doing what he'd been coached as a kid, i.e. the right stuff, and within a couple of seasons in the first eleven he doing all sorts of crazy shit I think I agree, but there's always the possibility that we see players every game when they play for us, and we see them so little when they leave. That combined with the fact our fans are harsh on our own players might mean that people like Milner and Bramble always seem better when they go elsewhere.

And replacing them with another one. True, but not quite so bad. At least Duff still has the ability to run a bit. -
We win,Hull lose,Sunderland lose!!! We win!!!
-
That's not true at all, I for one have said good things about Ashley and defended some of the things he is trying to do... I've never said he's been 'a success so far' - only an idiot could argue that.
-
Balls, it's basically ridiculous to use our current situation to score points over anyone.
-
Can we save this shit for when we actually are relegated?

Newcastle United 0 - 1 Fulham - 16/05/09 - post match reaction from page 20

Fulham are where they are on merit though, they're organised and don't give much away. They aren't packed with attacking flair but they work well as a team. -

Yep, Enrique has been a big miss, he's quality and he allows Duff to move into midfield - thus dislodging one of our shite midfielders. -
Well everything has changed, but it good easily change back again after the Villa game.
-
There's always fans leaving early... no matter what the score or situation. I think they're idiots, but they don't reflect on the rest of us.

Shepherd Coming Back Again and more take-over tosh
AyeDubbleYoo replied to biggs's topic in Football
Being owned by Ashley and with the prospect of Shepherd returning - we're like a helpless child being fought over by two paedophiles... whichever wins it isn't going to be good for us. -
Pretty much my thoughts.
-
Everyone who has appeared in midfield this season has been a major let down for us... it's too soon to get rid of Jonas and Guthrie but Nolan, Butt, Smith need to be axed, and a number of new midfielders bought.

Those are actually the scores I've put in for my I Know The Score prediction league. If ayone wants to clutch at straws, I'm top of the league by a mile. Not outrageous predictions by any means, I can see that happening. -

We were as good as Fulham really, except for letting in that soft goal. After that it was much easier for them, obviously. -
Me too, I just hope we aren't in it.

Phil, I don't see why you're so convinced that Man Utd will lose to Hull. It's more likely than if they played their whole first team, but surely they'll still have more than enough to win?
