It's always time for a re-vote, especially after a defeat so people can but their votes up to 9.

Since the owner is not changing, he needs to bring in a football-minded competant Chairman. Survive this season, then get in a permanent manager with a proven track record and who is willing to work with the recruitment system without throwing his toys out of the pram at every disagreement. Get back on track what Ashley was trying to build before the Keegan debacle. It would also be nice if the fans could stop being so reactionary and focussed on the short term, and stop abusing their own players, but that's unlikely to happen.

Whether he should be captain or not I don't know, but I certainly don't want Owen flying into dangerous challenges, especially with the size of our squad at the moment.
-
Thing is, football isn't an exact science, if you create the majority of the chances and generally dominate the game you might rightly expect to win. But for whatever reason the strikers have a bad day and the opposition end up nicking it. How anyone can criticise Owen's finishing with his goals/games record is beyond me. Think some of the posts on here are way over the top.

Got to say I chuckled this morning hearing on 5-Live Mark Hughes saying that Kaka 'was always one of his targets'. No shit Mark!

Have we ever discussed this issue before?

Pre Match - Newcastle United vs Hull - Wed 14th Jan - 19.45pm

On the basis of his thread on here? How many times you seen him play? On the basis of his thread Man City should be buying him instead of Kaka. -
I'm not as anti-Ashley as some, but Llambias looks a horrible appointment. Mort was class as well.

It's a noble aim, but legislation would have to be massivley detailed and strictly enforced - would it cap only wages, or also transfer fees, bonuses, endorsments and sponsorship deals etc? What about expenses and gifts? I agree it's getting out of control and may ruin the game, but football is a free market now, how can we tell football clubs what they should be paying their employees if they choose to do it? One idea though, since the situation will eventually be such that matchday revenue accounts for virtually 0% of club expenditure, can we have a massive reduction in ticket prices please? That's what Man City's owners should really be subsidising.
-
It's incomprehensible how much money these people must have if they are even thinking of paying Kaka what is rumoured. What happens when they bring in other players of similar stature, they will want something like that as well won't they? I know they're billionairres, but once the wage bill gets to £20 million a week plus bonuses even they will feel it, surely!

N'Zogbia: Lyon interested according to agent
AyeDubbleYoo replied to TêteDeMaure's topic in Football
There should be some serious fines winging their way towards Charlie at the moment. -
Eh? So do people believe that he thinks the squad is good enough or that he's annoyed that it isn't? Can't be both surely...
-
Is this not just a case of Kinnear being savvy enough to use the press to give the club a nudge? Every manager wants the boys upstairs to move faster on transfers I imagine.
-
Dunno really, I guess the theory was that no club could ever sustain ridiculous wages because the finances of the business wouldn't allow it. Obviously the introduction of Abramovich and co. changed the whole game, as those clubs don't need to budget their spending in line with their incomes. I don't know whether a salary cap is legally possible, I guess so if it is possible in the states?

I rate the Zog, but I wish he would keep his fucking mouth shut in the papers. -
Whether he 'couldn't' sell the club, or decided that the offers weren't good enough, the outcome is the same. Who are we to say he should sell one of his most significant assets for a price that he doesn't think is good enough?
-
If Smith could tone down his flying into tackles and just close people down like Hargreaves then I think he could maybe be an almost-decent midfielder. Can't bring myself to click either button though.
-
To be fair to HTT, I would be gutted as well.
-
I reckon about a 4, I would say we're less than 50/50 to go down. Things can change so quickly this season though, a couple of wins and we could be in the top 8, or vice versa.
-
I don't know a lot about this point I'll admit, but wasn't it the Shepherd regime that spent large amounts of the clubs money renting warehouses and storage facilities owned by members of the board and their families?
-
I don't think Ashley wanting to sit with the fans and drink etc was "bullshit", but I do think it was a mistake. He got caught up with his desire to enjoy his ownership of the club and didn't think about the position he would be left in if things went wrong. Naive, but not devious.

Aye, lack of athleticism is our main problem in the middle I reckon. Replace Butt with someone like Diarra or the like and we would be in business. Combine that with replacing Duff/Geremi with people with pace/strength and you're laughing. The premiership is as much about being an athlete as about being a footballer these days. I wouldn't have minded a punt on Muamba when he joined Bolton. Rumours suggest Jenas might be on his way out of Spurs too
