Looking forward to seeing Mickey back as well, and Roeder's handling of Dyer suggests when he comes back it will be when he's completely ready Not sure we need a tall striker for the first team, although it would be nice as an option to change things.
-
Not much chance of that

I don't think Reading really need to spend in the window, at least not if their only objective is to stay up. It would take a shocking second half of the season for them to go down - and what they've shown so far doesn't suggest that's likely to happen.

Seconded, well said Clarky lad. (He was my gran's favourite toon player you know)

I think a lot of the irritation with all three of those teams comes from rival fans who hate seeing success in others when they aren't enjoying any. I would reluctantly admit that I'm sure I would have loved Roy Keane if he'd been a Newcastle player for example, much in the same way we used to get a strange satisfaction when Bellamy would go on one of his rants. It's a lot different when these players are on your side and helping you succeed. I wouldn't condone outright cheating but other than that I think it's just a question of what side of the fence you're on.

meat and drink to those who constantly harp on about finance and how skint the club is. Funny thing is, they ALWAYS appear not to see posts such as this. Not sure I get what you're saying here. I did mention we may not be able to afford him, but I stand by the fact he'd be a good signing. And I think spending 6 million recruiting a proven quality player in a position we are really weak in would be prudent, certainly not comparable to the money we've wasted on some players.
-
Who else do they have for left back apart from A Cole?
-
I'd say 6 or 7 million would be a good signing, considering he's arguably the second best left back in the country, and not that old. Not sure we'll have that much though.

Is it not already within a ref's power to call the two captains over and 'have a word'? And I'm sure there's already rules on dissent and ungentlemanly conduct that refs could use to properly punish (and deter) players who abuse them. All UEFA/The FA need to do is make it clear to refs that they won't face any comebacks if they enforce their authority fully. Problem is, they probably will - the pressure of the fans, managers and media must be immense at times. IMO we should just accept that referees make mistakes like everyone else and get on with the game, no need for video replays or any of that stuff.

Hard to believe this has reached 6 pages

Do we actually know this thing about the wages is true? Or the signing-on fee demand? Don't think you were insinuating this MJ, but it can get a bit annoying that people assume whenever a player joins us it's because of the wages but when they join anyone else it's because it's a great opportunity.

I watch Reading quite a bit, and Doyle's quality. I seriously doubt Reading would be willing to sell him to us though. It's going to be a difficult one to get a proven premiership goalscorer, Koller might be worth a punt if the price is pretty low, his physical presence is immense.
-
He could always be there to watch Lucas Neill, probably seeing him every week in the premiership isn't enough for Glenn.

WTF, how much did google pay for youtube again? blueeek.gif

Yep, bravo for all the vitriol on here people, totally agree as well blueyes.gif

Innocent until proven guilty lads?

I really can't believe this is true, I'm sure we'll be seeing Bernard back sometime soon. If not then some heads have to roll behind the scenes, do we even have a fitness coach/team?

Would you prefer winning the UEFA Cup but being relegated?

I don't think even winning the champions league could make up for the unthinkable horror of playing in the championship -
I think some people need to realise what makes up a successful football team. It's not 11 Scott Parkers who run themselves into the ground for the cause. It's a good mix of Scott Parkers and a couple of Albert Luques. We need someone who has talent, technique and vision, as well as an eye for goal as he has. True, I haven't seen enough to truly judge yet, but I bet if he had had a few of those chances Duffer wasted against Charlton we'd have won that game.

respect to the kid, he's the new schmeichel

Pav, Tim, Shay and Steve try to avoid Glenn's eye as he asks for a volunteer to play centre half
-
I really hope he comes good this time, for him and us.

I particularly like the use of the word 'defender' in quotation marks!

blueyes.gif Sadly all true. 'Henry Winter more reasoned than Alan Oliver' shocker!

We've not been doing too good a job of that so far though, have we?
