Bournemouth vs. Newcastle United: 25/08/24 @ 14:00 (Sky Sports)

If we don’t mind a draw I could see us playing a defensive back four, but otherwise I would expect Hall to keep his place. -

No he didn’t. Personally I think it would be much worse to be dropped for such a straightforward fixture. -
Of course, but (as you say) you have to understand the context too. We were coming off the back of a decade and a half of no care for the squad, and only a certain amounts of signings possible. Relegation a real possibility. Therefore you might logically decide that selling your best performing players is a risk you can’t afford to take.

This forum was annoyed by the unpainted shipping containers in Stack, TBF.

I know, but it feels like a spin on the transfer that makes it sound like he was just knocking around with nobody wanting him. Which I’m sure wasn’t the case. Anyway, doesn’t matter, I wasted fingertip skin typing both of these posts
-
Well Liverpool have been ‘linked’, whatever that means.
-
We can’t work out if we’re the only people interested in Guehi or he’s definitely going to Liverpool. People have gone bonkers.
-
If we want to be sellers I’m sure we can get rid of some brilliant players. The fact is a lot of our squad was worthless, or we couldn’t sell them at their peak because we needed them (Wilson, Miggy).
-
Bit cheeky to write Kelly as unattached. He came from another club.
-
I’m ecstatic about the direction of the club and this season is going to be class. But I do think it would very strange if we didn’t improve the team at all. I can’t deny that.
-
Agree but I hope we don’t buy him, just because of the reaction. I guess we’ll want someone younger anyway. Seems like we’re doing for a no-doubt signing in Guehi, so it would be clearly a step down.
-
The Guehi deal would be off already then, since we spent £10m on Osula.
-
We’d probably have to wait until next summer for a really top player. I guess.
-
Ironcially Solanke doesn’t take Spurs to the next level.
-
I think Gomez is a very decent player but I guess slightly older than we ideally want. And not quite in the Guehi bracket. Better than Krafth starting games at CB mind.
-
I want him here if we can agree a deal that's acceptable to us. It's really nothing to do with the player. Obviously takes the shine off a bit, it's better if it just gets done under the radar.
-
I hoped so but can’t see it happening in this window now.
-
You're right, we should've shifted out half the squad when Howe arrived
-
I don't think the rules say that putting heads together is an automatic red card, do they? Of course nobody 'should' react, but it's not in a normal person's instincts to expect another person to jump to the floor when you do nothing to them. It's a bit of a false criticism.
-
Chelsea-senses tingling.
-
I'm worried we won't get people in, but I'm not worried that the club isn't trying.
-
FWIW, I think Gomez is a good player.

Fabian Schär - signs a one year contract extension on reduced terms (Official)

Of course, yeah, but there doesn't seem to be any appetite for it. FWIW you probably don't even need to book people, you just need to stop giving them fouls. That might actually be more comfortable for referees to implement. -

I’ve considered doing that It is mad though, in most walks of life people pretend to be OK when they’re hurt, act as strong as possible, keeping going despite any odds. And in football the culture is for adults to pretend to be injured and roll about on the ground. I honestly don’t know how they can do it. -
Makes too much sense. Bring back Garth.
