I do have some things just haven’t had a chance to post them. We’ve definitely seen different patterns of play being tried at various points in the season. Fullbacks coming inside into CM, wingers running into the inside channel, different configurations of the midfield. Even Woltemade off Gordon. Not complete reinvention but attempts at change. Ramsdale over Pope. Like I said earlier, I believe the intention was to play with more possession. But since our form was so poor we’ve almost had to lean back on what we knew.

We’ve seen him try plenty of different ideas though, and I still believe the intention of this season was to develop the style. Sadly none of the signings have worked out so he has leant on the press because he trusts it. I feel it’s pretty unfair to categorise him as massively inflexible.

Yeah, that's obviously why he said it. I just hope it's not factoring too much into the actual decisions about Howe. Sounded to me like he was wary to back Howe 100% when he knows the fans are annoyed.

That was brilliant play like. If he takes it forward onto his right foot it just gets blocked. I'm sure some fans prefer players to just do the average thing rather than what is actually most effective.

I’ve said many times, if the PL was a single entity with an overall strategy it would never want to limit the clubs like this. It’s only because it’s a member’s club that it’s effectively voting to keep investment and excitement out of its own product. It’s crazy really.

Did Hop give a different interview to the wider media? The video from the club doesn't include any Howe stuff.

IMO the midfield thing is way overblown. We're not trying to convert him to a CM, I don't even think we believe that's his best position. IMO it's just a way to get him in the team a bit while we rely on the tried and tested press to get us through a sticky period. Kind of annoying to always see it referenced as if we think it's the solution to something. I'm 90% sure we don't.
