I wouldn’t give up on Tonali but I’m obviously very disappointed about how he’s doing at the moment. Still covers loads of ground and helps defensively so much, but everything else has been dire. I think with everyone we just need a summer off and go again. Tonali should benefit a lot since he’s not playing in the World Cup.
-
It’s likely no harder than anything he’d face at a new club TBH. First choice back four and most of first choice midfield are here. Probably just need one quality midfielder to sort it. New keeper is just one good signing. Attack is the hardest.

The chords on the first song really remind me of something famous, which is a bit weird. But I can't remember what. So for scene one I would say the second song.

Crystal Palace 2-1 Newcastle United (12/04/26) | post-match from pg. 36
AyeDubbleYoo replied to Yorkie's topic in Football
Yeah, a couple of big chances in particular. One where Gordon should’ve put Osula in and one where Osula missed the 1v1 after the error. Also on other ball across the 6 yard box that nobody got near. If we’d gone 2-0 they might have just kept their players for the European game. Even so it should’ve finished 1-1. -
Yeah agree but I guess he would’ve been criticised by some for backing Howe unconditionally and not understanding how bad a derby defeat is.
-
Well I would hope there's agreement in the recruitment team that these targets will be useful to the team. If there's not then it's not going to work anyway.
-
I'm expecting to recruitment to be much better going forward (really we've only had one bad summer anyway) so I think it would be a massive shame if Howe wasn't allowed to work with that for next season.

I think most of our promising attacks end well before a striker would make a difference TBH. Either one of Murphy, Tino, Tonali and even Gordon (and others) will make a technical mistake and miss a pass or miscontrol a ball and we’ll give it away. Part ability and part confidence I guess. Of course a functioning striker might scramble a goal or two that would boost the results and therefore confidence. But the problems are further back in the team as well.

Can’t call it.

It’s not what I want but a draw away at Palace isn’t bad. Which is what we should’ve got. -
You can't give a penalty at random for something that is let go 99% of the time. It's criminal.

Crystal Palace 2-1 Newcastle United (12/04/26) | post-match from pg. 36

It was an average performance but overall pretty comfortable, but the pessimist in me thought we needed more than one goal lead before they brought their proper players on. That said, the penalty was incredibly soft and the kind of thing that happens multiple times at every set piece. So we should really have got out with 1-1 which wouldn't have been a disaster. -

I wouldn’t have done it but I understand the Howe view, and that’s basically why we signed Wissa after all. -

He got dropped for Wissa because we thought he would guarantee goals, and then Gordon because we wanted to fall back on the pressing we know so well. -

Agreed to a point but away at palace is always a hard one. -

I think I’ll pretty much ignore the WC to be honest, we’ll see. -
Not following instructions or not executing well is one thing. So is lacking confidence in certain moments and being in bad form. I usually take giving up on the manager or believing in him to mean stopped trying or actively ignoring him. Which IMO they clearly haven’t done.

Most of Sunderland’s opponents stay here, seen a few of their coaches. Always makes me think I’ve forgotten about a Newcastle game
-
I don’t really agree with that, but even if it was true I’d say it’s literally the only time you could say it. And it was surrounded by games where we gave everything. So the not believing in Howe thing has absolutely no legs at all IMO. If anything it’s incredible how together we are despite a difficult season and that’s one of the main reasons we should keep the masher.

I was looking forward to it until the games started this weekend. Then I was kind of sick of it again. -
I’m convinced people just think he’s bad because of his name.

How big is the conference league trophy?

There's absolutely no chance we're planning a future where Miley plays significant games at RB. -

But the point is he’s a class CM and that’s his future, surely. Great he can fill in well of course. Sure he could play anywhere but we need to be maximising his potential.
