Isak never had stamina, even Howe’s training couldn’t improve it. He would basically go out of the game after about 55 minutes in most cases. And his movement is great but obviously he’s not a hold up player or a ‘platform’ for the rest of the team. He’s a finisher.

I think Howe is trapped in similar situations with a few players because he’s in such a desperate situation to get results. Gordon plays up front because we need the press. Murphy starts on the right because he might produce a cross despite being shite. Joelinton and Tonali both have to play no matter how poor their form is, especially with the ball. Not blaming Howe as such because the squad is not brilliant and he does need to hope for results from somewhere. But I feel a few of our selections are in hope rather than expectation.

Does anyone ever think the fact it wouldn’t fit any elite club means it is actually not Howe’s approach? Must have said about a hundred times but he’s not a dinosaur, he’s a young manager who spends his time learning how to improve. Seems extremely unlikely that he’s decided that he’ll only work as some kind of football king who controls everything.

I know we can’t believe everything Howe says in public but he seems to have a great relationship with Hopkinson and Wilson. I feel like we’re talking about two different people sometimes No doubt he has his vision and there will be a certain amount of disagreement. That would be with any manager. Hopefully it’s productive.

Yeah of course, fair points. But almost every thread is full of how we should sell the player. We can’t afford to let that many go, we already need to add lots of quality.

We need a reset but I don’t think it should involve selling our good players. It should involve selling our bad players and getting more good ones in.
