This window won’t be a reflection of how big or small they’re planning to spend in general, IMO. It’ll more be how they judge they can stay up without saddling the club with overly expensive and long deals for people who might not really want to be here. It’s a really difficult time to try and transform a team but I’m confident they’ll give it a good go.

I think it’s a bit much to say Howe is trying to turn us into a possession team right now. Yeah, we are looking to move into space better and receive the ball, but that’s just better football. Getting the keeper to hoof the ball away is just not viable, whatever your overall game plan is. Of course we can’t dominate good teams with the players we have, but they must be capable of one or two passes more than they’ve shown. Countering happens in transition when you win the ball back, there will still be times when you’re starting from the back or a static position, and you can’t just lose the ball every time.

I don’t think he will. Might never play football again IMO, unless he’s prepared to drop right down the divisions.

He’s experienced in two organisations which have made a lot of progress recently, and established themselves as quality in their field. Looks good to me.

He has to be looking at retirement you would think.
