Its hard though next year even if he stays other clubs will be on the hunt for a striker meaning more competition and by the end of this campaign we may not have champions league qualification again meaning even harder to attract players more so than now. If we can secure one now it at least sorts the next summer to do list out a little which based on how many will be entering final year of contracts or their year extensions ending could be an extensive list to recruit again.

Agreed but at least sesko has champions league experience and scored 4 in 8 appearances last time. Which for a 22 year old having big competition experience already is a definite positive. Appreciate the come back to that is longstaff and BDB have champions league goals doesn't make them champions league standard but you get my point.

I think our weaknesses are all a priority brought on by no first team additions in 2 years, age of areas of the squad or quality drop off in others. If at the start of the window we wanted a striker if callum goes, RCB, RW and a midfielder if longstaff or willock go then look at a replacement for trips if he does leave likewise targett then we have only addressed 1 area. Scary putting down what is needed and thinking anything less of falling short even if we have money remaining to go again in January its hardly ideal to do so when a chunk of the season is gone.

Weird 22 years old gave him a deal until 2027 but clearly not good enough for this level if that's the calibre of loan he's getting.

Its almost like we have 3 blokes running it all and acting like we have no ceo or sporting director its getting beyond any sort of meme or joke now.
-
No even better they consider him not for sale 🤣🤣🤣 https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11095/13401150/ollie-watkins-transfer-news-aston-villa-consider-england-striker-not-for-sale-amid-man-utd-interest

We will bid 35 or 40 give Villa a week to think about it as they know they want 50 or 60 but we assessed him as less.
-
We added him to the list but currently staring at the other names wondering which one will reject us the quickest.
-
Again depending how true this "promise" to the player to let him go if they told him he could go if they bid over X (again he's mentioning 26m) and that's been leaked somehow you can see why us and forrest went in with 25m bids
-
Reports are saying they told us to come back with something over 50 we would go to 35 so not sure how keen I am paying over the odds on wissa see who's stance softens first I guess.

I think both can be true we put a value on the player and the seller has a price in mind. Based on the general player market, calibre of player we are going for and places we are shopping in. At best we are strong in our opinion and at worse we are niaeve in what has happened to prices and we are finding ourselves world's apart seemingly hoping tiny improvements or leaving the bid on the table hoping the passage of time will change their minds.

No i dont have an ear on the inside we have heard he's the chairman's favourite player, desire to be number 1, he's not for sale. All that could be fan service twaddle but ultimately I see no upshot in him going now. Isak is the difference between having a chance of back to back champions league places and being a top 8 side. That alone based on league position payments and loss of earnings and failing to qualify for the champions league is a greater risk than the risk of his value dropping back to 100m. We simply can't let him go without the fee being massive. The journos saying it will be a british record doesn't sound like it will be the sort of money the club are after as I said before even 130m isn't transformative for us.

Load of shite selling your best striker off the back of a champions league qualifying campaign, to a team who you aspire to catch up to and were 18? Points off last season is an awful look no matter how you spin it. The eales comment last year of every player has a price may be true and player trading is part of it but you want to be the club selling when you want not having teams pick who they want to take off you. Coupled with the fact a 120/130/140 or 150m influx doesn't allow any massive transformative change in the squad. We already need a striker even if Isak stays. That money would need to also go to isaks replacement and no Darwin 25ish league goals in 90 odd games is no where near good enough as any form of compensation. Only thing I agree on is the club won't have any fan emotion to this decision if he's going to be a sulking git all season and if he's never going to sign a new deal a soon to be 26 year old with 3 years left is worth more than a soon to be 27 year old with 2 years left.
-
Down beat and rehearsed and measured is the things I took from that. Didn't care about the isak stuff as much as the journos did as I knew he wouldn't give anything away. More concerned with incomings nothing close it seems and prices of players still an issue not sure leaving it late in the window will mean any massive price drop offs. Love the fella still managed to crack a smile but dont get an optimism after watching it.

Unfortunately they sign players at good fees Bustards 🤣 https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/manchester-city/transfers/verein/281

Good point hopefully if we have to pay compensation to get rid of any notice/gardening period.
-
Need that pattern to be 4 new signings at least one every 5 days max ideally 🤞🤞🤞 Followed by 3 more player sales targett, willock and a keeper and 2 weeks of the window to buy 2 more. Simples 🙄
-
Aye OK lads we believe you he's the wissa alternative not the isak one 🤣🤣

Waiting to hear back on those £5 bid increases we asked the cleaner to fax for us when she is finished helping howe write a preseason itinerary.
